As in the past wc will be col- leçting mittens, scarves, and tougucs forjthe Mitten Tree as well as miscellaneous miscellaneous gifts for the Men's Hostel, Denise House and the Salvation Army. Traditionally, these small gifts, socks, shampoo, deodorant, small toys are wrapped in white paper. Wc had our student speaker Sue Rom- aniuk first year student at Queen's Theological college. Our charge has voted to support an appeal for needed funds at Queen's Theological College. Reverend Sedgwick opened the service with his usual prayer. The first lesson was from John 12: 9-19, read by our student. Sybol Davis had the expression of Worship, explaining the two new banners put up this week, A Star bom and Son of God. The Sunday Sunday school was responsible for making making these. Our student told a story for the children's minute. The second lesson was from Colos- sians 1: 11-20, read by the student. Reverend Sedgwick spoke on Visible Likeness of the Invisible. He began by telling how when his children were small they used to play a game called looking for wolves in the basement. Even though they never found any, they knew they were surrounded with them. Christ was the invisible likeness of the invisible God, told in the second second lesson that implies the same as the wolves story. Ronda Perry and Wendy Robinson took up the offering. Coffee was served at the close and cookies appeared from somewhere, which were enjoyed by all. Wednesday afternoon Vivian Quantrill, and E. Thickson helped Betty Betty Mercer put in a quilt. Sorry to report that Adam Yarema had the misfortune to have his leg broken playing hockey. Elmer Fowler had the misfortune to cut the ends off two of his fingers of his right hand last week. He got them caught in a chain. Glad to report that Edna Morris is improving. Clara Sheppard who was back in the hospital is at her daughter Sybol Davis'shome. . Jackson and Susan Peacock and Heather Roy from this charge attended attended the farewell dinner for Kwang U Lee and family at Eastminister, Belleville. Belleville. The baking sold very well - and hot- dogs arid meatpies were big items at the lunch counter. A big thank you to Betty Pascoc for her work in organizing organizing the'sale, and to the UCW and-the Finance Committee. Governors Named At Durham College The Council of Regents recently announced three new governors for the Durham College Board of Governors, Governors, Joyce Marshall, Ann Stowell- Smith and Gerald Ouellette. Joyce Marshall, a Whitby resident, is an owner/operator of three nursery • schools. She is a past president and current Council Delegate for First Oshawa International Training in Communication, and past president of the Durham Business and Professional Women's Club. Joyce was the recipient recipient of the Early Childhood Educator of the Year Award, Ontario North Shore Branch and Volunteer Service Award from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Culture and, most recently, recently, was named as a Woman of Distinction for business by the YWCA. Ann Stowell-Smith, the elected staff governor, is the Alumni Officer for Durham College. Ann, an Oshawa resident, is a graduate of Durham College. College. She is a member of the College Committee on Resource Development and the Canadian Alumni Administrators Administrators of Ontario. Ann was a team captain captain for the Oshawa General Hospital "Setting the Pace" campaign and organized organized the College System's 25th Anniversary Anniversary gala at Skydomc this fall. Gerald Ouellette, the elected student student governor, is a Business Administration, Administration, Marketing student.
