The highlight occurred on the weekend weekend of November 21, where she placed first overall in her flight at Novice Ladies level, and then continued continued to skate well to win a bronze medal medal in the final events. This secured her a position to compete compete at the Divisional Level Championships. Championships. At the Divisional Championships, Championships, she is one of 12 competitors to compete against the top novice skaters from most of Ontario and Quebec. The top four skaters from this event go on to compete at the Canadian Championships. The Divisional Championships will be held in Oshawa this year in January. Winning the bronze medal at Sectionals Sectionals also secured her a place on the Ontario Team to compete at the Ontario Ontario Winter Games. This event is being held in March at Cornwall. Over the past few months, Tracy has competed at several competitions, including Buffalo, Lindsay and Thornhill. Thornhill. At all of her recent competitions, she has either placed first or second in her Novice Long and Novice Short programs. In the test area, she has passed her gold Freeskate and seventh figure. Tracy resides in Newcastle, and was formerly a member of the Orono Figure Skating Club. She now represents represents the Whitby Figure Skating Club and also skates year round at the Galaxy Galaxy Club in Scarborough with her coach, Elizabeth Todd. Ontario Hydro Atoms Play Well in Grafton Tournament The Knox Christian School girls' basketball team capped an undefeated season by winning the Newcastle Newcastle Christian Athletic Association championship on Tuesday afternoon with a narrow 24-23 victory over St. Stephen's. Three Games for Toro Midgets ■ by Lisa Luxton The Bowmanville midgets select team played three games last week. The first game was against Souff- ville. In the first period, Byron Lange got a goal , for Bowmanville. Stouff- ville came back, however, scoring four goals., ... ... The second period was the most exciting, of the game. Byron Lange received received his second goal of the game. Stouffville struck back, scoring two more goals. Then, Jeff Wright scored a goal for Bowmanville, narrowing the gap. Rob Watson also added another another goal to end the period 6-4 for Stouffville. During the third period, Stouffville scored three more goals. Unfortunately, Unfortunately, Bowmanville didn't score again, ending the game at 9-4 for Stouffville. The goalies for Bowmanville, Brian Pickard and Ian Czechowski, faced 28 shots, while Bowmanville's offence fired 26 shots. The second game was against Uxbridge. Uxbridge. The first period was played well offensively and defensively, as Uxbridge scored the only goal. The second period was much like the first. Uxbridge scored two more goals, but Bowmanville fired back when Byron Lange assisted Ryan Lep- pert in a magnificent goal. The score was 3-1 at the end of the second. The third period was great to watch. Bowmanville didn't score, but their efforts were noticed. Uxbridge scored once more, winning the game 4-1. Brian Pickard and Ian Czechowski, the goaltenders for Bowmanville, stopped 22 shots, while the offence had 16 shots at the Uxbridge net. The third and final game was played in Whitby. This game was the best out of the three. The players tried very hard, and it showed. The first period went scoreless for quite a while. Whitby then got a goal. Bowmanville did not score in this period. period. In the second period, Whitby scored a goal resulting in a score of 2- 0 heading into the third. The third period was very exciting. Bowmanville's Rick Swale assisted Byron Lange in scoring Bowmanville's Bowmanville's goal. Whitby was shutout in this period, ending the game 2-1. V After a very busy two weeks of exhibition exhibition games and a tournament in Manvers, Ontario Hydro atoms travelled travelled to Grafton for tournament play. The hard work began to show through Ontario Hydro's play in their first game against Baltimore. They managed a convincing 7-2 victory. Scoring for Ontario Hydro were Allan Rahme with a goal, Jeremy Pawson with a goal and two assists, Phil Hopkins Hopkins with a goal, and Todd Bumstead with two goals. Neil Legree had a goal and two assists, Andrew Warren a goal and an assist, and Jamey Curran Curran had an assist. Ontario Hydro continued on with an excellent effort against Oshawa St. Andrews. Ontario Hydro outskated, outpassed and outshot Oshawa, defeating defeating them 6-4. Matt Bourgeois' goal tending for Ontario Hydro was outstanding, with key glove saves. Daryl Gonsalves led Ontario Hydro, having a big game. He scored a hat-trick and one assist, Andrew Andrew Warren scored once, Todd Bum- stead had two goals and one assist, with Allan Rahme and Chad Jozkoski getting an assist each. Ontario Hydro met another Bowmanville Bowmanville team, Family Trust, in the 'A' final, but were unable to contain Family Trust's excellent centre, Allan Robb, who scored four goals. Ontario Hydro showed a lot of grit and determination in the final, closing in on Family Trust by scoring two goals in the second period and making the score 3-2. Ontario Hydro gave it their all in the third, but couldn't hold Family Trust from extending their lead and winning 5-2. Scoring for Ontario Hydro were Andrew Warren and Daryl Gonsalves. Jeremy Pawson and Brad Schultz had an assist each. Busy Schedule for Horner's Novices by Kim Gadd Homer's Petro Can novice team played a busy week of hockey last week. They tied their first game of the week on Wednesday evening in Orono Orono against the Camsport team. It was an extremely close game, with Camsport starting off the scoring late in the first period. Homer's evened the score late in the second, with a well-timed rebound goal by Greg Bubar, assisted by Colin Organ. Camsport again managed to go ahead late in the third, followed quickly quickly by a perfect shot by Justin White. Johnathan Nozdryn assisted. Homer's returned to the ice Sunday Sunday evening in Darlington to play against the Carter's Bakery team. : Homer's managed to defeat the Carters team 4-3. Justin White popped in the first goal for Homer's with Johnathan Johnathan Nozdryn assisting. Darren Kelly Kelly slid in the second goal, again assisted assisted by Johnathan Nozdryn. Kevin Brooks scored the final two goals for Homer's. His first was unassisted, and his second and winning goal was assisted assisted by Stuart King. Dustin Privett was awesome in net for both of Homer's games.
