10 The Canadian Statesman TVu&chiUx, Bowmanville, Wednesday, December 23,1992 Christmas Story from Knox Christian School The Sparrow's Christmas It was a busy day for the sparrow, she had been flying around Bethlehem seeing all the people come in. It was a time when King Herod told the people to go back to their home town so there could e a census. The sparrow was very tired and looked for a place to rest. As she landed landed on the ground, she heard a young couple talking to an inn keeper. They were looking for a place to stay, but the city was packed. The inn keeper took pity on them because the woman was going to bear her child in a short while. So he offered them a small stable on the outside of town. They were very grateful and accepted eagerly. eagerly. The sparrow also decided to come along. So she flew to the stable and settled herself on the rafters. She found out that the couple was Mary and Joseph and their child was to be called Jesus. In a short time Mary gave birth to her child. There was something different about Jesus, he was so perfect and beautiful. Later on shepherds came to see the child all wanting to touch his precious face. Then wisemen from The East came with gold frankincense and myrrh. This was all for a child of a carpenter, a normal man. This child for certain was different than any other. other. He would certainly be special when he grew up! By Lauca Vanderherberg Knox Christian School - Grade 7 The Christmas Meaning Through the many years, of history, history, Christmas has been celebrated and passed on to millions of people. The traditions and customs vary through out the centuries Jesus has come into our lives. However, we all are spiritually spiritually touched with the joy of Christmas in our hearts on the days we spend with our family and friends. A long time ago; the thousands of angels that sang to the shepherds, the star that shone brilliantly in the still of the night, and the wisemen who travelled travelled from afar, all remind us of the joy and delight of that sacred evening when Christ was bom. That night had been long foretold, chosen out of hundreds of thousands nights that would be remembered for millions of years to come. Such a holy event has changed our world radically- radically- Mary and Joseph, the parents who have been chosen out of the multitude of people who were living that night our Saviour was bom. The whole wonderful story is just so inconceivable. The love of God to send his son to save us from ourselves. ourselves.
