16 The Canadian Statesman TUte/faUn, Bowmanville, Wednesday, December 23,1992 In the My Last Christmas (Fiction) My name is Christina Robinson. I'm 13 years old and I have cancer. Having cancer is no different except except people are scared of coming too close to me sometimes, and I'm in the hospital alot. That's where I am right now, the hospital. They haven't told . me much except that it's very serious and that I'm only going to live another year. I guess they didn't want me to know so I didn't tell anyone, but I heard the doctor say that I only have 2 months. It's December 3rd, I can't wait till Christmas but some how I don't want it ever to come knowing that it.will be my last one. It won't be that bad I guess, I will be with God in Hèaven. I think alot about why God picked me, why me? I wonder what it's going to be like with me gone. I guess I'll never know until It happens. Sure, I'm sad but I make the best of it. Each day I try to make 2-3 Christmas cards for people I know. I also like to read, I find it gets my imagination in action! I try to make friends with people at the hospital, including including the doctors and nurses. My family and relatives visits me alot. There is an 11-year-old girl in my room, we talk alot. She's nice and really funny! I taught her hpw to play cat's cradle and she taught me how to cross stitch. I taught her how to knit and she tells me what foods on the menu are good: They are some of my favorites, bagel with cream cheese and raspberry jello! I've been getting a little better and I might see Valentine's Day! By: Sarah-Jane Shotton St. Stephen's The Best Christmas Ever If I had to pick a Christmas that was the best, I would say Christmas of '91. That was the Christmas my Mom had to work Christmas Eve till 3:00 p.m. My Dad,, brother and I went Christmas Supper Shopping. When we got home from Christmas Supper Shopping, I made a vegetable and chip dip. Then my Dad, brother and I cut up vegetables, put them in a bowl of water and put the bowl in the fridge. When Mom got home we got dressed up and went to 4:30 mass. When we got home from mass, we had the vegetables, chips and dip. then Dad read us "Twas The Night Before Christmas". Then my Mom and Dad kissed Ben an I and sent us off to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I found what I had asked for; It was a Barbie house, a Barbie doll and a Casio Casio Keyboard. And to top things off, I got to help Nana and Mom make supper. supper. Ben was too busy making something something with his new Master Workshop in the basement with Dad. Last Christmas Christmas was perfect. By: Katie Hodge St. Stephen's Catholic School The Best Christmas Ever Christ was bom in Bethleham where everyone awaited him. Mary smiled as she looked down on her new born son. His eyes sprakled, his hair had little blonde curls and he had a little chubby face. Shepherds came to greet the king full of joy and wondering. wondering. Three wise men gave the new born gifts and smiled at the babe who was laid in the stall. To me this is the loveliest story of all. Not the presents, not the gifts, just celebrating the Lords birthday.
