The team of 12 includes six players from Bowmanville: Jeff Reynolds, Reynolds, Brooke Pakosta, Cole Linfoot, Kent Missons and goalies Paul Evans and Erik Smale. They are joined by teammates Jean-Francois Bourque (Stouffville), Jamie Plunkett (Omee- mee), Phillip Francis (Bobcaygeon), Brandon Hammel (Lindsay), Andy Bilton (Manvers), Mike Lucas (Little Britain). It has been very difficult for the 10 skaters and two goalies to compete with many of the 'AAA' teams with 17 players that have played together for afew years. „ The team is coached by Larey Reynolds Reynolds and assistant coach Ross Bilton. In the Wolves' most recent game, they met Oshawa's 'AAA' major novice novice team at Children's Arena on Sunday, Sunday, January 3. Oshawa led the Wolves 3-0 at the, end of the second period. Clarke High School Girl's Prepare for OFSAA Return Hooper's Trophy Attend Whitby Peewee Tourney On December 27-29, Hooper's Trophy peewecs entered the Whitby Optimists' 11th Annual House League Tournament. . The first game played by Hooper's . set the style of defensive play used by Hooper's through the tournament. Hooper's took on Duff's Towing of Whitby with the game ending in a 3-0 win for Hooper's. Scoring in this game were Trevor Wright, unassisted, Brian Tamblyn from Jamie Shrives, and Greg Patterson from Devin Jordan. Jordan. In the second game, Hooper's showed great confidence as they skated skated to a 10-0 win. Leading the way was John Marco Cannito with three goals and four assists. During the Christmas break, Bowmanville Bowmanville Sand & Gravel bantams were entered in the Oshawa Checkers Tournament. Our opening opponent on December December 28 was Oshawa Woodview. This was a fast : paced game with steady goaltending in each end, resulting in a scoreless tie at the end of the first. Strong forechecking paid off in the second when Ryan Brannigan broke in for an unassisted goal. Bowmanville Bowmanville carried the momentum into the third to record three more unanswered goals for a 4-0 victory. Scoring were Nick Katsikis from Jeff Thrasher, Ni-, all O'Donnell unassisted, and Nick again from Jeff and Tim Bydal. This win put us in the 'A' division and pitted us against Bowmanville Remax Remax for our second encounter which proved to be a real crowd-pleaser. Sand & Gravel opened the scoring in the first period when Nick scored an Dennis Pizzeria Split Two Games On January 2, the Dennis Pizzeria minor novice Toros hosted Cedar Hill in exhibition play and came away 6-2 winners. On January 3, the Toros travelled to Vaughan and lost a hard-fought 3-1 decision. Brett McKee from Jamie Bryant and Robbie Campbell tallied the lone marker for the Toros. unassisted marker. The 'A' championship proved to be an all-Bowmanville affair as we were up against the Nichols Motors team. Sand & Gravel got off to a fast start in period one with three goals. Tim scored from Jeff and Bert Leliev- re; then Nick from Damien Jay; and Damien from Jamie Powell. Nichols scored in the second and midway through the third to put on the pressure, pressure, but Matt Black's goal from Nick and Damien was the insurance we needed in a 4-2 victory for the ' A' tro- phy. This tournament was our best team effort of the year. Coaches Powell and Thrasher are to be congratulated for firing up the troops. Goalies Brad Delorme Delorme and Shawn Honeyman were a class act, allowing only three goals between between them in the tournament. Horners Lose on Late Goal by Kim Gadd Homers Petro Can started their Saturday early, playing against the Sports Shop team. Sports Shop's Mitchel Fontaine scored early in the first period, followed followed by a second goal for Sport Shop by Korbent Cummer. Both goals were unassisted. Sport Shop started the scoreboard again in the second period with a goal by Steve Ivany, assisted by Mitchel Fontaine. Darren Kelly started off the scoreboard for the Petro Can team late in the second period. Jonathan Ho- stick assisted. Darren Kelly was still revved up when he returned to the ice . to score the second goal for Petro Can, Kevin Brooks assisted. Greg Bubar placed his mark to tie up the game with Ly- don Gadd assisting. With only 50 seconds seconds left in the game, Ian Laflame scored the winning goal for Sports Shop. Petro Can returned to the ice Saturday Saturday afternoon to defeat the Carter's Bakery team 4-2. Goals for Carter's were by Mike Tribou and Nick Van- dervium. Scott MacDonald, Scott MacKay and Jody Thorsteinson .each scored two apiece, while Chris Steele and Jason Jason Frayne had one apiece. Assists went to Greg Masterson (2), Nick Zdravkovski (2), and one each for Brian Ball, Chris Paquette, Scott MacDonald and Jason Frayne.
