This week's column is devoted to the six warning signs of a stroke which can mean there Is something wrong with the blood flow to the brain: - Sudden weakness or numbness In face, arm or leg lasting a few seconds but not longer than 24 hours. - Sudden, temporary dimness or loss of vision, particularly in one eye, - Sudden and temporary double vision. - Temporary difficulty in speaking or loss of speech, due to problems In moving tongue or Jaw. - Temporary dizziness or unsteadiness. - Unexplained headaches or change In pattern of your headaches. If headaches have been mild and suddenly get long-lasting, very painful, possibly along with dizziness or nosebleeds, this could be a warning sign of stroke. If these warnings arc heeded and medical attention Is obtained, many, many people can help themselves from being victims of stroke.
