Women's Missionery Society Holds Annuel Meeting - T)tf6itna, 70e*uu*ty The Annual meeting of the Peterborough Peterborough Presbytcrial of the Women's Missionaty Society was held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Co- bourg, January 20,1993. The guest speaker, Mrs. Joyce Hodgson, a graduate of Ewart College -tv and currently Director of Education for Discipleship under the Life and Birthday Boy Mission Agency speaking on the theme - We Belong Together - in World Issues - presented in dialogue form the injustices done to women in Africa and in countries of the Middle East. The stories presented showed the oppression endured by women and how they arc banding together to help one another. The Rainbow Project, founded in 1986 by a group of concerned Christians, Christians, endeavours to protect women and young girls from sexual exploitation exploitation and prostitution by providing spiritual counselling and skill training. Dorothy has an interesting hobby of making porcelain dolls and dressing them in authentic costumes. The Abigail Unit invited the Anna Unit to join them at their meeting on January 13th. Lyn Banting and Kathleen Kathleen Taylor led the worship service with the theme, "How to help others." The speaker for the evening was Marion Marion Sedgwick, who was a medical missionary missionary in Papus, New Guinea since 1982 and is now home on furlough. 'Marion taught nursing and showed slides showing what had been accomplished accomplished during those 10 years in the hospital and told now the people lived. She wants people to be more aware of how important it is to support support missions in these countries. On Monday, January 18th, Joyce Gibson and Lyn Banting attended a Workshop at Columbus United Church. The theme was "Healing the Hurt - What can we do to Help?" Hull On January 29, 1993, John Hull of Bowmanville successfully defended his doctoral thesis at the Ontario Institute Institute for Studies in Education in Toronto. Toronto. Dr. Hull is in his 17th year of teaching at Durham Christian High School.
