"We have many different contributing contributing factors which will hopefully help create an above-average spring market. Thé factors are: we have been told the recession is finally over; General General Motors in Oshawa escaped closure closure last December; and the government's government's Home Buyers' Plan has been extended to March 1, 1994," says Christine Kendall, President of ODREB. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. CONSERVATION AUTHORITY MEETS - Oshawa Councillor Irv Harrell was elected Chairman of the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority Authority (CLOCA) at its meeting on January 19. The Vice Chairman is Ajax Councillor R. Anderson. Town of Newcastle representatives on the CLOCA board of directors are Councillors Ken Hooper and Larry Hannah. Dutiiam MP Ross Stevenson presented this "Canada 125" Commemorative Commemorative Plaque to Carol Bailey, out-going president of the Durham Durham Central Agricultural Society, at the organization's January 30th annual meeting held in Orono. The MP congratulated Bailey on her outstanding contribution to the 140th Orono Fair and in particular for her work on the fair's heritage display. Mr. Stevenson also had a similar plaque for Garnet Rickard, who was not in attendance at the meeting. The plaques are made of wood taken from heritage farm buildings, and slate reclaimed from old,schoolhouse chalkboards.
