The first game was against the Lindsay Kent Cleaners. There was no scoring in the first, but at the start of the second period, Patrick O'Halloran won the faceoff and got the puck back to Brandon Baker who took a good point shot. Brian Villamere picked up the loose puck in front and stuffed it home to make it 1-0 for the Pizza gang. Then, Dave Corcoran stickhan- dled through the Lindsay defence and got the puck to Brian Villamere who flipped in a backhand while on his knees to make it 2-0. In the third period, Brandon Baker skated in from the point and fired a bullet into the top right hand comer to make it 3-0. Gerrit Van Dyke made a nice pass off the boards to put Dave Corcoran in the clear and Dave made a neat deke to put the pizza boys up by four. Finally, Kevin Legge put on a fine display of stickhandling around the Lindsay team and scored on a wrap-around shot from behind the net. Final score: Pizza 5, Lindsay 0. The second game was against Bowmanville's Family Trust. In the first period, Dave Corcoran scored from in front, with the assist going to Brandon Baker. Then, Dave found the mark again with assists going to Jeff Lee and Jason Bakkcr. Corcoran got his hat-trick shortly after on a short- handed effort when he picked up a loose puck after Kevin Legge had taken taken his. shot. In the second, Brandon Baker shot the puck near the Douro net and Sean Watson picked up the loose puck and tied the game. The game remained tied right until the end of regular time. In the overtime, the teams staged a simultaneous shoot-out, with one player from each team taking a penalty penalty shot at the same time. The team with most goals after three different players took their shots would be the winner. In the first set, Patrick. O'Halloran scored, but Douro also found the mark. In the second set, Jeff Lee scored and so did Douro. Then, Sean Watson scored on his attempt and Mike Luxton saved the day on the Douro shot to give Pizza Pizza a hard- earned championship. The following morning, Pizza Pizza Pizza suited up for a league game against Major Plumbing, but couldn't muster up enough of an offence after the exciting exciting tournament on the previous day.
