William Russell (Smokey) Hayes An employee of General Motors, retiring 12 years ago, William Russell Russell (Smokey) Hayes, aged 78, died in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville on Saturday, March 13,1993. The son of the late Tom and Mary Hayes, he was bom and educated in Bowmanville. His wife Marion Majors Majors predeceased him. He had resided at 119 Concession St. W., Bowmanville Bowmanville approximately 50 years. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178, Bowmanville he had served in the R.C.A.F., in World Warll. He is survived by his son Richard and his wife Karen, son Jim, two grandsons, and a brother Jack. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville, with the Reverend Reverend Canon Yates officiating.
