Elizabethville News by Edna Thickson - 797-2619 On Tuesday afternoon the Elizabethville Elizabethville U.C.W. unit II met at Quan- trill's, at 2 p.m. Our president Mrs. Ken Trew presided and had the devotional devotional part of the meeting on Easter. Vivian Quantrill took roll call and read the minutes of the last meeting. We discussed several items of business. business. Susan Peacock had asked us to bring some ideas for program to this meeting, especially ideas on what to have. Three or four had, and they were read. Perhaps we will do better next meeting, lunch was served by the hostess, Vivian and Bertha Trew. In the evening, we had been invited invited to the Canton U.C.W. Seven went from here and several from Garden Hill. They had colored tags to pin on with eight tags of various colors. The program consisted of singing and a drama put on by three ladies taken from a chapter of the bible about the ladies at the well, with their jugs for water, after the resurrection. Most of the surrounding U.C.W. had been invited. At lunch time, each color of our tags had a table to sit at which helped mix up the guests. All enjoyed the evening very much. Seniors held their get-together on Thursday as usual, with a very good crowd attending. A birthday party was held on Saturday Saturday evening to celebrate Percy Woodcox's birthday. Neighbours and friends gathered at John Sheppard's home for this surprise event. On Saturday at 7 o'clock a pretty wedding was held at the Garden Hill Church when Jacqueline Cook, daughter of Bill and Kathy Cook, and Peter Ross, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, Ottawa were united in marriage with Reverend Sedgwick officiating. Bridesmaids were Angie Bailey and Karen Butterley, best man Alan Ross, usher Doug Cook. Three little girls, . nieces of the bride, Charlene, Emily and Hillary, assisted with Charlinc as ring bearer. Karen and Doug sang, a duet while the register was being signed. After the guests from Ottawa, Pennsylvania, N. B., N.S., and local, about 200 in all went to the Golden Beach Resort, Harwood, for a dance and lunch. The couple left for a honeymoon honeymoon to Jamaica for a week. The couple will live in Bewdley. Church services were very well attended attended on Sunday. The first lesson was taken from John 20: 19-31 when Jesus appears to his disciples. Pearl and Elmer Elliott, Oshawa, visited in the village Sunday, the first outing down this Way since they had the flue. They had tea with Inez and Orley Mercer and called here later spending the evening with Vivian and Howard Quantrill. There will be a musical event at North Hope Public School on Friday evening. The W.I. will meet on May 4 at Margarcttc Walker's home. Ken and Bertha Trew had Neil and the boys for dinner yesterday and her sister Mary for supper. . Glad to report that Edna Morris is improving and will not . need any more treatments. Margarctic Walker had Jackson and Susan Sunday for tea. Sunday afternoon the Pee Wee teams held their sports event at Bewdley Arena where James Burton and Brent Lchtincn were chosen as the best hockey players in the group, and received an award each because they lied. Irene Beatty had Adam and Justin Yarcma, and Lcighannc Austin for lunch on Saturday. Gregory Austin , for lunch Sunday and Jeffery Burton for supper on Saturday night. Tyrone 4-H Report On April 12th, Tyrone 4-H Discoverers Discoverers Club assembled àt the church around 6:30-6:45. As everybody arrived, arrived, we set out for the vet's. When we arrived at the Taunton Road Animal Animal Hospital, we explored the waiting room. ' On the counter in a jar of preservative preservative was a five year old German Shepherd's Shepherd's heart. This dog died because of heart worm, caused by mosquitos. As we ventured through, we looked through a microscope and saw a blood cell. In the next room, we saw eyeballs and babies of cats and dogs. We were shown the x-ray room and some x- rays. Patty Gaudet, our guide, showed, us the animals staying there. At 8:20 we went back to the church. After we arrived, we said the 4-H pledge and did the roll call. After fancy fancy read the minutes, Lindsay, our president, adjourned the meeting.
