More Than 1,000 Attend Craft Show ttij Museums Day in Town of Newcastle May 18, 1993, is to be proclaimed International Museums Day within the Town of Newcastle. In a letter to the Mayor and Council, Council, Mark Jackman, curator of the Clarke Museum and Archives, wrote: "The concept of an International'Museums International'Museums Day was adopted as a résolu-, tion of the 12th General Assembly of ICOM (the international museum body) at a meeting in Moscow in 1977. "The Assembly thought it expedient, expedient, with the aim of unifying the ef forts of museums and drawing the attention attention of the world to the activity of museums, to hold an annual International International Museums Day," Mr. Jackman wrote in his letter. The slogan for the day, is "Museums "Museums are an important means of understanding, understanding, cooperation and peace among people." This year, Canada has added another theme. I The Fifth Annual Norrfolk Country Craft Show at the Bowman- ville Recreation Complex had attracted over 1,000 visitors by mid- afternoon on Sunday, April 25.There was a total of 32 craft exhibits, mostly by artisans from the immediate area. The displays included everything from wooden toys to clothing and even dolls. Here, Sue Barton and Kay Goldberg, of Bartonberg Originals, in Port Perry, display some of their creations. The dolls are individually crafted for collectors and include characters such as wizards and shamans. P.C. Leadership Hopeful Plans To Visit Supporters on May 6th Jim Edwards, MP for Edmonton Southwest and a candidate for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Conservative Party of Canada, is to visit the Durham area on the evening of Thursday, May 6, Durham MP Ross Stevenson announced this week.
