Playing with Gord Vinson, Leon White and Harold Osborne, Joe aced the 132 yard, 3rd hole, with a seven wood. The award-winners at the Jr. C Bowmanville Eagles banquet were announced. Bob Zych and Craig German shared the goaltending award for the lowest goals against average in the league. Craig also won an award for the lowest average in Ontario. Chris Michelson won the Rookie of the Year award; best defenceman award went to Duane Major; Tim Preston was chosen most improved player; Bob Dwyer was honored as the most dedicated and sportsmanlike player; Carl Chambers was recognized for his loyalty and leadership; and Randy MacDonald took top honors in the goal scoring department, as well as being the most valuable player. The Ford driver started on the outside pole in the GM Goodwrench Tour's Bud 150 and led every lap en route to his first checkered flag of the season. The victory snapped a two-race win streak by Junior Hanley, Hanley, but continued a six year GM Goodwrench Tour streak of nonrepeat nonrepeat winners in the Bud 150. Beaver Dragon; of Milton, VT, came from 18th in the 28 car field, to push Lepage hard down the stretch.- He crossed the line less than a car length behind the winner. It was just short of miraculous that Dragon was even in the hunt. He narrowly escaped escaped a pair of incidents early in the Bud 150. "I was lucky in that first one," Dragon stated. "There was just a little little damage to the door. It didn't bother the handling of the car. "The problem I had at the end of the race was that the car was running running hot," he continued. "I told the guys that I had to let Kevin go for a while and cool it back down. I had a lot of car left at the end, but I couldn't do anything with heat." Dragon was the winner of the inaugural inaugural Bud 150 at Lee in 1987. For third place finisher, Mike Wcedcn of Haverhill, MA, it was a homecoming. The Chevrolet pilot spent much of the early part of his career at the third mile oval. Steve Knowlton of Ipswich, MA, the 1990 Bosch Rookie of the Year, was fourth. Five-time STP Canadian Challenge Champion, Claude Leclerc Leclerc of Montreal, was fifth. Completing the top ten finishers in the Bud 150 were Dale Shaw, Roger Lapcrlc, Mike Rowe, Yvon Bedard and Dave Whitlock. Campbcllvillc, Ontario's, Junior Hanley, the GM Goodwrench Tour point leader entering the Bud 150, and a two-time winner in 1993, crashed early in the race. He was never a factor and wound up 26th. Five caution periods slowed the Bud 150. All were for minor incidents. incidents. The GM Goodwrench Tour continues continues its schedule on Sunday, May 23 at Mosport International Speedway Speedway in Bowmanville with the Sunoco Sunoco Race Fuels 150.
