By taking time to choose the right sheen or gloss level, they will. If you desire something less than a high gloss but still want a durable finish with a slightly glossy appearance, select a semigloss paint. Many people prefer this medium-luster look to the highly reflective appearance of gloss paint. According to the Paint Quality Institute, high quality semigloss paints are stain resistant and easy to clean. As a result, they wear well on walls and woodwork that take abuse: kitchens, baths, children's rooms and playrooms, hallways, doors, windows and trim. Eggshell or satin paints offer a warm finish for walls and woodwork by creating creating a slightly more lustrous appearance appearance than flat wall paints. They resist stains better than flat finishes, finishes, so they are an excellent choice for rooms where a low-luster look is desired, and good cleaning properties are necessary. Again, halls, bathrooms and playrooms are likely candidates for satin finishes, as are woodwork and trim where a flatter finish is desired.
