I Hospital Telethon Set for June 5th Over 1,000 celebrities, performers, performers, volunteers, and corporate sponsors sponsors will participate in the 9th annual Hospital For Sick Children Founda tion Telethon (HSCF), Saturday, June 5 at 8 p.m. to Sunday, June 6 at 8 p.m., with hosts Lloyd Robertson and Liz Grogan and master of ceremonies ceremonies Ken Shaw live from CFTO- TV, Agincourt Studios. Television personality Nerene Virgin will report live from The Hospital Hospital for Sick Children on University Avenue throughout the weekend. Dave Devall will host live from Yuk Yuk's Uptown, Yonge & Eglinton, Sunday, June 6, from. 1 a.m. to 6 a.m., with founder/CEO Mark Bres- lin' as master of ceremonies, presenting presenting top comedians. Admission is $5; all proceeds to the '93 HSCF Telethon. Telethon. For. the third year, the HSCF . Telethon will be carried by MCTV in North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and Timmins, represented by TV personality personality Peter Mallette. Mrs. Mila Mulroney will again deliver deliver the opening and closing messag es. Guests will include soap stars Jeanne Cooper and Jess Walton from The Young & Restless. Performers will include The Phantom of the Opera Opera star Colm Wilkinson, Juno Award nominee John McDermott who will sing the title hit from his new album Danny Boy (Capital- EMI), Glass Tiger's Alan Frew and Sam Reid and 1992 Casby Award winners for Favourite New Group/ Artist, Moxy Fruvous. Also scheduled scheduled to entertain are Sylvia Tyson, Lisa Lougheed and Carroll Baker, along with Kelita & Terry Kelly who will sing their new duet "We Can Do Anything" (Gun Records). Children's entertainers include Eric Nagler, and Sandra Beech who is also one of the hosts. Durham College Convocation Durham College Convocation ceremonies ceremonies will be held on June 12, 1993 at the Oshawa Civic Aùditori- um, 99 Thornton Road South. Oshawa Mayor, Nancy Diamond will address the Applied Arts and Business graduates at the morning ceremony, beginning at 10:30 a.m. David McCamus, Chair of Xerox, will spéak to the Health Science and Technology graduates in the afternoon afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. The graduating class of '93 marks the closing of the 25th anniversary of classes at Durham College. Kinsmen Raise Funds With Fireworks The Bowmanville Kinsmen Club made certain everyone was supplied supplied with fireworks on Victoria Day. Volunteers from the Kinsmen Club sold the fireworks at a trailer on the parking lot of W. Frank Real Estate May 21, 22 and 23. Durham Christian High School Presents Annual Spring.Concert Thursday, June 3rd On Thursday, June 3, 1993, Durham Durham Christian High School will be presenting its annudl Spring Concert in the school auditorium; This year's concert will feature the school's sixty piece Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, - Brass Quintet and Choir. The DCHS Choir recently performed at the All- Ontario Christian School's Choir Festival in Kitchener. Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $2.00 from any music student. All persons who attend the concert are asked to donate a canned good as part of their admission to the concert. All food collected will be presented to the local Food Bank. Another exciting part of this evening evening will be the arrival of a Durham Christian High School supporter who will be "walking" from Peterborough Peterborough to Bowmanville. Mr. Evert Posthumus is expected to arrive at DCHS sometime during the concert.- Mr. Posthumus is obtaining sponsors and raising funds in support of Durham Durham Christian High School.
