Another exciting event for Orono fairgrounds and again on Sunday, large crowds for MacGregor Auction Sales. This past Sunday, I enjoyed an in- depth interview with Guiding Leader Elizabeth Bateman. Elizabeth, one other leader, and 12 Pathfinders from our district travelled to Pennsylvania for an exchange. The first three days were spent in cabins at the "Hillsite" in Camp Tweedale, our equivalent to Camp Samac. The group enjoyed visiting their hydro electric plant and nuclear center. On Wednesday, the Canadians, Canadians, looking sharp in their dress uniforms, uniforms, set out on a tour bus to Washington Washington D.C. They visited many memorials and enjoyed a movie at the Imax Theatre. The "Blue Earth" gave a spectacular viewpoint of the earth taken from a spaceship. The next four days were spent living living with their "host family". Each Canadian stayed with a family of a Pennsylvania Guider. They tasted different different foods and shared slangs. We are all so close, yet so far apart. The Canadians brought home two t-shirts and patches (ours arc badges) The Wait Is Over -- Roy given to them by the Pennsylvania Guiders. A quick flight home was enjoyed enjoyed on Sunday. It certainly was a learning but fun-filled seven days. Next summer, the Pennsylvania group will visit Canada. While I'm on the subject, Guiding registration is coming soon - Tuesday September 7th to be exact. This will be held at the Hampton Community Centre from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. The cost remains the same. The Guiding units are as follows. Sparks are five-year-olds. Brownies arc six to nine-year olds. Guides are ages nine to twelve and Pathfinders are twelve to fifteen-year-olds.
