Lillian Luella Sleep In her 94th year, Lillian Luella Sleep, died in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, on Sunday, September 5, 1993. She had been ill only five hours. The daughter of the late John and Martha Wray, she was born in Egypt, Ontario, and was educated in Black- stock. She was married March 12, 1921, to the late M.A. Sleep. A resident at 103 Liberty Street, North, Bowmanville, for approximately 60 years, she had previously resided in Brooklin, With her husband they built and operated the North End Market for over 20 years where she was self employed. She was a member of Trinity United United Church, Bowmanville. Surviving arc her family Bernice and husband Michael Puk, Bowmanville, Lurana (Mrs. A1 Harvey) Cobourg, Arnold Arnold and wife Audrey, Joan Bowmanville, daughter-in-law Patricia Sleep, 13 grandchildren, grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. granddaughter. She was predeceased predeceased by her husband, and a son Douglas. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Morris Funeral Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville, with the Reverend Frank Lockhart Lockhart officiating, Pallbearers were great grandsons Wade and Chad Puk, Jason and Aaron Rice, Trevor, David and Charlie Sleep. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. Cemetery. Francis H. Westlake Francis "Frank" Westlake, a native son of Solina, passed away in Memorial Hospital Bowmanville, Friday, April 30, 1993. His desire to live was inspiring inspiring to all, he never gave up, as he courageously fought heart problems for 13 years. ' Bom in Solina on February 19, 1914, son of the (late) Frank and Ida May (Avery) Westlake, he lived his entire life on the farm, worked in General Motors a short time, Goodyear Canada Inc. plant, as a shift worker and then as watchman until retiring March 1, 1979, with 24 years service. On June 9, 1945, he married Phyllis Doreen Cook, taking over the family farm in 1958. He was a farmer all his life, an active member of Eldad United Church, he served on many of the boards of the Church, Sunday Sunday School and Cemetery, was a tmstcc of Solina School, and a member of the Bowmanville Canadian Club. He was always sports minded. minded. He played soccer, and was an avid baseball fan and supporter supporter of Solina Combine team.
