8 The Independent, Canadian Statesman Weekender, Bowmanville, Saturday, November 6,1993 Halminen Homes Bantams Come from Behind to Win 4* The Halminen Homes Major Bantams Bantams kept their unbeaten streak alive this week, with a come-from- behind 3-2 victory over Markham at the Darlington Darlington Arena. The first period was all Toros and the team was unlucky not to take a lead into the second period. However, they had to settle for the scoreless tie. Markham came out strong to begin the second and took the lead after just 37 seconds. The game then began to slip away from the Toros and their defence defence were hard-pressed to keep the score to just 1-0. Midway through the period, the visitors' pressure paid off and Cameron Millar was beaten again to make it 2-0 for Markham. The line of Darryl Cook, Ryan Jobb and Derek Lange then went to work and, with Jobb and Lange setting setting him up, Cook hit for a natural ' Please recycle A this newspaper hat-trick to win the game for the Toros. Toros. His first came before the end of the second period when he picked up a loose puck in the crease and slid it past the Markham goalkeeper. Three minutes into the third, he stuck again on an almost identical play. Both these goals were set up by Jobb and Lange. The game-winner came with 9:35 left, and this time Millar was assisted by Lange and Tony Butzer. Markham then put. on continuous pressure to try to equalize, and only some great goaltending from Cameron Millar, who pulled off five or six saves from point-blank range, kept them in the game. Markham had a great opportunity when the Bowmanville team took a minor penalty with only 1:05 left on the clock and the Markham goalkeeper goalkeeper was on the bench in favour, of an extra attacker. However, the defence came up strong and held off the Markham Markham team to preserve the win. The Halminen Homes' unbeaten streak now stands at seven, with a record of six wins and a tie.
