Marion Schwarz had the following following to say regarding her upcoming season: "I believe that this will be the most entertaining, and informative season we have ever- done. Our guests are interesting and exciting, and we are very proud of the quality of our series. Community Liaison Group Finishes Cleanup Criteria By John Veldhuis • The Clarington Community Liaison Liaison Group has completed the Cleanup Cleanup Criteria. The report is in its final stages and we are ready to discuss the findings of the various subcommittees subcommittees with you. Committees 1 & 2 have submitted their report to technical technical experts for review which they have done and given us the word that the methods proposed in the report is acceptable to them. We were much encouraged by those reviews and are - now ready to recommend clean-up criteria for the Port Granby low-level radioactive waste site. Confident that we are doing doing as good a job as can be expected, a job which will stand up in an envi ronmental hearing should one be required required and one which is defensible by us or anyone else. These reports arc available for your perusal or you may wish to discuss the results and recommendations with any member, of the Clarington Community Liaison Group. A formal report will be made available in the near future to the Council of the Town of Clarington and to any citizen who wishes to have one. With this report we are two-thirds of the way from obtaining Phase IV of our mandate. The final Phase, which is the actual engineering engineering plan to remove the waste is being worked on and should be completed by the summer of 1994. Guest Speaker Discusses Growing Plants from Seed John Rekker, of Rekker's Garden Centre, was the guest speaker last month at the Bowmanville Horticultural Society's meeting. Mr. Rekker discussed the planting of seeds and the starting of plants indoors. indoors. The horticultural group learned that petunia seeds are more expensive per ounce than gold. They cost about $800 per ounce, compared to the $400 cost of gold. There are 256,000 petunia seeds in a single ounce. Mr. Rekker is shown above with Elaine Hutton, president of the Bowmanville Horticultural Society.
