Dennis Pizza Toros Win in Orillia Members of the Dennis Pizzeria Toros accept the championship trophy at a recent tournament held in Orillia. The Toros won four straight games to reach the finals, where they recorded a 3-1 victory over Aurora. Dennis Pizza Toros Capture 1111 The coaching staff of Gary Ne- misz, James Baker and Manager Dave Larsh are very proud of the Toros team effort given in their first tournament of the year. The Toros won the 5th Annual Orillia Terriers Novice/Atom Invitational Invitational tournament. Success started from the net out as Andrew King and Justin Vander- belt only allowed two goals over a five-game span. There was a total of 28 goals scored by the team and a total of 43 assists. Checking the opposition's offence, offence, the defence pairings of Brandon Brandon Beers (MVP of the third game) and Tyler Brown, Jeremy McKee and Jeff Larsh (MVP of the fourth game) provided a total of two goals and seven assists. Offence was provided by centre- men Garrett Nemisz who had four goals and four assists; John Kelly who had four goals and five assists; and Jason Hicks who had a goal and five assists. The first game MVP, winger Jason Jason Emond, was rewarded with a hat-trick in game four, and scored a total of six goals and two assists. Wingers Greg Tamblyn had a goal and four assists, Shane Gonsalves had a goal and four assists, Matt Beech had two goals and two assists, assists, Jason Hicks had a goal and five assists, Brendan Kalijundic had three goals and four assists. The MVP of the second game saved his best for the last as Colin Baker had a total of four goals and six assists and was again awarded the MVP in the final game. All members of the team were MVP players, with the goaltenders getting three shutouts and every player receiving a point or better. In the first game, the Toros played Agincourt and came away with a 7-0 win. Game two found them playing Aurora, winning a 3-0 decision. Game three was against division division rivals, Whitby, and the Toros won 5-1. Host team Orillia Terriers met the Toros and were defeated 10- 0 in the semi-final game. This set up an exciting rematch, with Aurora in the final as they beat Brampton in the semi-final. Bow- manville again proved to be the stronger team and, with 30 seconds, left in the game, Aurora scored, spoiling the shutout as the Toros won 3-1. The Toros would like to thank Orillia for the privilege of playing in their successful tournament and providing providing the team with a fun-filled weekend.
