DURHAM AUTO DETAIL (A division of Fred's Autobody) 163 Baseline Rd. E., Bowmanville 623-6353 Display at Gallery 6 January - 6 March 1993 An exhibition of paintings by artist artist Michael Reeves will be on view at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery from Thursday, January 6 until. Sunday, March 6. The public is invited to meet the artist at an opening reception reception to be held Thursday, January 20, 7-9 p.m. The exhibition will be opened by the Mayor of Scugog Township, Howard Hall. In the catalogue which accompanies accompanies the exhibition, Gallery Director Joan Murray says: "He is a painter who leaps in head-first to paint what possesses him, an exuberant paradise, partly of his imagination, amicably inhabited by ducks, deer, rabbits and bears, knights, pioneers, even boating parties. What unites his work is fantasy, fantasy, his willingness to juggle subject and landscape to produce a sensuously sensuously ripe, packed, pictorial effect, Reeves' paintings remind us that a relationship relationship to nature is still a dominant part of our culture in Canada." Now a resident of Port Perry, Michael Michael Reeves emigrated to Canada in 1979. Reeves was bom in England and trained in the late 1950s at Cors- ham Court in Bath, the Brighton College College of Art followed by studies in Rome. His influences include teachers teachers such as William Scott and Howard Howard Hodgkin.
