Well known Oshawa area builder and developer Herman Kassinger has retired as president of H. Kassinger Construction Construction and declared his successor. Mr. Kassinger made the announcement announcement at the company's annual staff and associates Christmas party held December 4. Herman, 71, announced announced that effective immediately ' he was handing the presidency of H. Kassinger Construction over to his youngest son, Stephen, 34. Kassinger's insistence on quality paid off and he was soon able to start his second project, Beau Valley in northeast Oshawa. This was one of the first subdivisions in Canada with all underground utilities and services. It was also the site of one of the first all-electric homes in Canada. Innovation and quality were the hallmarks of subsequent projects which included Park Valley, Ross- land Park, Sun Valley, the Estate Courts, the Rose Garden, Plaza 900 and 700 and Highland Gardens. Rossland Park introduced townhous- cs to Oshawa and revolutionized the concept of rental accommodations by organizing a mixture of housing forms within a park-like setting around a central community centre. The Estate Courts introduced the first R-2000 home to the area. Plaza 900 was Oshawa *s first successful condominium condominium high-rise and is one of the most prestigious addresses in the city.
