The Independent, Canadian Statesman Weekender, Bowmanville, Friday, December 24,1993 19 Christmas Stories from the Students of Newcastle P.S. Christmas Is A Time of Giving Not Getting One dreamily snowing Christmas Saturday afternoon Sarah Parker was writing out the second page of her Christmas list. Suddenly she saw a man walking down her driveway. She figured he had just dropped off a paper on the front door so Sarah went to check. Sure enough it was a flier. Sarah picked it up. She read it and then gave it to her mother. The letter was about a shelter families were invited invited to go to and help out with their Christmas dinner. Who would want to go to a homeless shelter and give them clothes and toys? Thought Sarah? Sarah? She ran back to accomplish her Christmas list. The next day Sarah overheard her mother and father talking. talking. They were planning on taking all three children (Sarah who is eleven eleven Leanne who is eight and Justin who is five) to the shelter the next day. Sarah ran into her bedroom and flopped onto her bed. Why waste Christmas eve day at a homeless shelter? This is no fair though Sarah. After awhile Sarah realized she was being very greedy. She should be going going to the shelter with joy and helping helping those people have the best Christ mas ever! So Sarah started to clean up her room and gathered all of the toys and clothes that she didn't need anymore. When Sarah was done she had gathered two boxes of toys and one box of clothes. The next day when the family went to the shelter she made a speech about how hwe had felt about coming to the shelter. It was excellent. Sarah made many new friends there. She decided she wanted to come back to the shelter on Christmas the next day. She was sure the people would appreciated it a lot! By: Michelle S. One Day It Snowed So Much One cold winter morning I woke up and looked out my window. All I could see was snow! I went to look down-stairs. Outside all I could see was snow. I went to open the front door and guess what happened? A big pile of snow fell on me. I was freezing. I closed the door and got on my snow suit. I opened the window window in my room and went out side. It was like standing on a mountain. I walked over to where the road should be. All I could see was snow. I walked over to the park and saw *f/U Qod Bless You All We wish you great joy at this time of year. May this be your happiest Yule ever! I walked around the block jumping on peoples rooves. I looked at the railroad tracks and saw a big snow plow clearing the snow off the tracks. I saw a whole bunch of kids come out and start to build a giant snowman. I helped. After 7 hours half the snow on my street was gone. Then I woke up. I looked out my window all there was was snow. n n ,, , The End. By Bradford 65 King St. W. Tel 623-1241 Season's Greetings And Many Thanks! Here's hoping your holiday delivers an abundance of cheer.
