Leskard News Approximately one hundred and fifty people were in attendance at the annual Christmas Eve church service in Leskard Church hall. Heather Lodge News On Tuesday, December 14, Sister Bertha White entertained the Warden, Warden, Sister Edith Delano of the Rebe- kah Assembly on her official visit. About 21 sisters from Ganaraska Lodge, Port Hope, Duke of Kent Lodge, Cobourg and Orono Heather Rcbckah, enjoyed a delicious supper at the Dutch Oven Restaurant. Lodge opened according to ritual with the officers of Ganaraska Lodge in the Chair. Opening ceremonies ceremonies were done very nicely by the lodge. Sister Delano was escorted and introduced introduced by Sister Carol Boyd, Sister Bertha White, D.D.P. and Sister Judy Coates, D.D.P. of Quinte District were escorted and introduced by Sister Sister Connie Hooey. All other visitors were welcomed by the Noble Grand. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Yelverton News By Harvey Malcolm Our community was saddened to leam of the passing recently of an earlier resident of our community in the days of her youth - Mrs. Muriel (McGill) Kennedy of Lindsay. She attended Yelverton Public School SS#1 and later Business College and later married Mr. Earl Kennedy. Sympathy is extended to her family including Gary and Dale Kennedy who arc carrying on the Kennedy Electric Company, a daughter Ruth and one remaining sister, Velma of Toronto. Well, the Ho-ho-ho. season is finally finally over and now we can look forward forward with a combination of optimism optimism and apprehension as to what the world is going to toss at us in the year ahead. But, in the meantime let's report on a few of the festive gatherings that took place in the week just past. On Sunday a joint service of the Janctville United Church charge was held at Yelverton United Church with Reverend Ross Bcnns officiating and Mrs. Brenda Malcolm at the electric organ. The Janctville United Church choir provided a vocal number that was much enjoyed. A number of family Christmas gatherings took place in our area. These included Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stinson and girls who hosted the Stinson and Carmichael families on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day the Gould family had their first family reunion with almost almost all family members present for many years at the home of Nancy's sister Pauline and hubby Eric and family in Cartwright Twsp. on 7A Highway, The Howard and Tcnry Malcolm families observed Christmas with Mr., and Mrs. Alan Gundry of Barrie. Jim and Candy Bannon, Candy's friend Sharon all present for the occasion. The Glasbcrgcn families met at the apartment "rcc-room" of Mrs. Elizabeth Glasbcrgcn in Whitby. Here at Malconia, we observed two special occasions, Conic's birthday birthday followed closely by Christmas birthday celebrations were held at the residence of Mona, Ronnie and Taya Shnrman in Lindsay on Sunday December December 19. Our Malcolm clan met for Christmas at the residence of Mil- zi Malcolm and Duane Lewis on Scu- gog Island. Marti and Jane Malcolm and family of Omemce hosted a gathering of the Connolly family including including June's sister Julie from New York U.S.A, Ralph and Linda Pfoh were Christinas Day guests with the Vincent Vincent Jackson family and friends in Bethany. A cantata entitled Simple Gifts presented the birth of Jesus from a little little different point of view, using the animals' thoughts. Costumes by each participant added to the scene. Musical Musical direction, was by Jane Kocnc, sotmd by Ryan Todd, and lighting by John Vaneyk. General assistance was provided by Jacqueline Vaneyk. A simple, effective candle lighting service, led by Robert Pascoc closed the evening.
