It is hard to believe believe we have almost completed half a year of school. Although this may seem like a reason to start celebrating, celebrating, one only has to look to the near future and see what signifies the end of a course. By this I mean final exams. exams. How they just sneak up on you? However, before we get caught up in the future, let's take a look at what happened in December at St. Stephen's. Stephen's. December was filled with lots of festivities in anticipation of Christmas. Christmas. Homerooms were asked to decorate decorate their doors, so that the school had a feel of the season about it. Some excellent displays of creativity were produced, but my favourite was Ms. Lcask's French class. They actually actually had a Christmas tree on their door, well not a whole tree. There were also many events over the last week of school, such as green and red days or Christmas morning day, when everyone was to wear their p.j's. You could also get your picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who came all the way down from the North Pole just for the occasion. Or if you were truly in the giving mood, the Prom committee had Candy Cane O'Grams on sale. These were just as popular as their Ghost O'Grams and money will go towards Prom '94. Overall, December was a good month. The Christmas concert held on the 17th was a huge success. I know that many people will not forget forget Mr. Warren's Science Lab, with the exploding Pringle containers and Father Bill reciting the 12 days of Christmas using helium. Yet, the greatest moment was on December 14 at the Newcastle Arena when the St. Stephen's Royal Hockey team defeated defeated Clarke High School with a score of 4-0. After many years of losing losing to Clarke, the Royals came out on top. I was one of the many loyal fans present at, what some would say, was an unexpected surprise. Congratula tions to the entire team, they do deserve deserve this. Staying along the sports theme, two athletes were chosen for the athlete athlete of the month for November and December. The winners were Mike Talotti and Shannon Spicer. Hats off to these two fine examples of sportsmanship! sportsmanship! Now, after the holidays arc over, it seems hard to get back into the homework thing. The biggest problem problem on my mind during the holidays was if there would be enough snow to ski. With exams only a week and a half away, I know I had. better slop having visions of skiing and more memorizing of formulas going on in my head. If anyone knows of a way to combine the two be sure to let me in on it. So, Good Luck on thé exams, exams, St. Stephen's students and when you are praying for that 85%, could you maybe ask for a nice big snow fall? The skiiers thank you. Mamie O'Toole.
