Their first game was against Lindsay, Lindsay, where they got their first win by a score of 5-3. The goal-scorers included included Chris Laton with a natural hat- trick. Singles went to Jared Greening and Nick Stacey. Their second game was against a tough club from Trenton. By the early part of the second period, Crow Sports had opened up a commanding 5-1 lead. Unfortunately, some mental er- ' rors allowed Trenton to come roaring back and get as close as 5-4 when the second period ended. Fortunately, the wake-up call came early in the third period as the Toros came storming back to outscore Trenton Trenton 4-1 in the final frame and capture their second victory by a score of 9-5. Goal-scorers for Bowmanville were Eric Dion, Daryl Stockman and Nick Stacey each with two goals, with Sean Pudlis, Chris Laton and Mark Gunter adding singles. Crow Sports then went on to meet the host team, the Peterborough Nationals. Nationals. It may be interesting to note that these teams met once before in the finals of a tournament held in Al- liston back in October. That encounter, encounter, unfortunately, went in Peterborough's Peterborough's favor with a 2-1 victory. However, on this day, Crow Sports got revenge, defeating the-host club by a convincing 6-2 score to end the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record and. the tournament win. The goal- scorers were Nick Stacey with three, Chris Laton, Ian Gleeson and Mark Gunter with one each. The goaltending of Brian Harris and Peter Godfrey was solid when called upon during critical situations. One week later, Crow Sports Major Major Atom Toros participated in the annual annual Checkers Variety Christmas Classic hosted by the BMHA. In the first game, they faced off against the Ajax Knights in a hard- fought, action-packed game. If not for the strong performance of Toro goal- tender Brian Harris, the score could have been much higher. After a scoreless first period, Jared Greening scored, giving the Toros a 1- 0 lead. The teams resumed play in the third period, with the Toros trailing 2- Ï. Goaltender Brian Harris was called upon to make several key saves, while Crow Sports continued to press, often taking chances to try for the equalizer. The Toros, with the goalie out in favour favour of the extra attacker, battled frantically frantically in the last minute to try and tie the score. But, with 15 second left, Ajax got control of the puck and fired it into the empty net, making the final score 3-1 for Ajax. The next day, Crow Sports went up against the Welland Tigers in a very physical, high-spirited game. The Toros Toros opened the scoring early in the first period on a nice setup from Daryl Steele to Daryl Stockman, who had positioned himself in the slot, and one-timed the pass into the net past a surprised Welland netminder. That goal in the first period proved to be die winner as Bowmanville blanked Welland 1-0, with Brian Harris Harris earning the shutout. Later that day, Crow Sports met the Willowdale Blackhawks in game three. Tan Gleeson and Jared Greening had the only Bowmanville. goals in a 5-2 loss. Although the loss dropped Crow Sports to the 'C' Championship, the team played well throughout the tournament, tournament, and everyone associated with the team was proud of their efforts. Well done, guys! The championship game was rescheduled rescheduled to January 30 due to the ammonia leak at Darlington. Bowmanville Eagles goaltender Drew Campbell takes a look over his shoulder to see who was responsible responsible for knocking Ms net from its place. The guilty parties were teammate Sean Brown (#19), and Shawn Parnell of Lakefield. Bowmanville won the game, played at the Recreation Complex last Sunday night, by a score of 9-1. Their next home game is Sunday, January 23, at 7:30 p.m. against Bobcaygeon. Newcastle's OMHA Novice hockey hockey team resumed play in 1994 with their undefeated record on the line.. On Saturday, January 8, Newcastle defeated Sunderland by the score of 5- • 3. Trailing 1-0 at the end of the first period, Newcastle stormed back with three goals in the second period. Joe Castellano opened the scoring for Newcastle, unassisted. Paul Garisto scored the second goal, assisted by John Stafford and Brendan O'Sullivan. John Stafford scored, unassisted, unassisted, to give Newcastle a 3-1 lead at the end of the second period. Sunderland scored two goals to tie the game at three. With 31 seconds left in the game, Newcastle scored two quick goals to steal the game. Scoring the winning goal was Joshua Rutledge, assisted by Paul Garisto. Just 16 seconds later, Nicholas Boyd scored, assisted by Eric Shah and John Stafford to seal the win. On Sunday, January 9, Newcastle travelled to Manvers and came away with a 4-0 victory. Newcastle's first goal was scored by Eric Shah, set up by some great passing by Nicholas Boyd and Joe Castellano. Eric Shah scored his second second goal of the game, again set up by his linemates Nicholas Boyd and Joe Castellano. Joshua Rutledge scored, unassisted, early in the second period.
