The Bowmanville Kinsmen Toro Pecwces concluded the final week of a hectic January schedule with four tough games in six nights. Monday evening, the team journeyed journeyed by bus to Barrie, where the boys turned in an inspired effort against an over-confident opponent. During the game, Bowmanville managed to out-muscle the usually aggressive aggressive Flyers, while earning a 4-2 win. A first-minute goal by Barrie added added to the Flyers' confidence. With seconds seconds remaining in the period, a deflected deflected shot from the stick of Clayton Kohn tied the game as Willy Thornton and Darren Kok earned the assists. The Toros notched two unanswered unanswered goals during the second period with Chris Watson from Kohn, and Scott Lane from Watson, finding their mark. An early third period tally brought Barrie to within one. With the Barrie net empty, Bryan Lowery showed a lot of determination when he out-skated two defenders to score his team's fourth goal. Wednesday, the team hosted Richmond Richmond Hill. The visitors opened the scoring midway through the opening period, but an -unassisted effort from Chris Watson soon evened the score. Bowmanville took the lead in the second period, with Jamie Woolncr cashing in on a set-up from Jamie Potter Potter and Willy Thornton. Clayton Kohn extended the Toro lead to 3-1 with an unassisted goal, but Richmond Hill again closed the gap to one goal less than a minute later. Unfortunately for Bowmanville, the third period saw Richmond Hill score two unanswered goals to escape with a 4-3 win. Friday it was Barrie venturing into town, a little more humble than the last time we saw them. All of the scoring occurred during the second period, with the final results results favouring the Kinsmen 3-1. Scoring for Bowmanville were: Chris Watson from Steve deGraaf; hard working John Wise cashing in on a Watson rebound; and Jamie Woolner from Kohn and Thornton rounding out the scoring. The week's action finally ended Saturday night in Orillia, where, after a slow start, the Toros scored two second second period goals. Chris Watson unassisted, unassisted, and Scott Lane, after being set up by some excellent forechecking from Andy Gifford, evened the score. Clayton. Kohn gave his team the lead for the first time in the game, with 7:10 remaining in the third period period on an excellent deflection from a Chris Watson shot. Unfortunately, the win slipped away as Orillia tied the game with less than two minutes remaining,. After a very slow start, the team has managed to earn 16 points from their last 12 games, and with the playoffs just around the comer, coaches coaches Sid deGraaf, Rick Kok, and Paul Charbonneau should be congratulated with the latest success of the team.
