4 The Independent, Canadian Statesman Weekender, Bowmanville, Saturday, February 12,1994 Plans Well Underway For Courtice Carnival From Page 1 An added attraction on Saturday may be a Monte Carlo event, if the organizers of the carnival are able to find folks willing to take the project on. On Sunday there will be a non- denominational church service, a children's Olympics which is being organized by a Courtice Pathfinders troop, and a community barbecue. On both days there will be a midway midway set up on the high school track. Of course, there will be food vendors vendors galore. There will also be access to the school's washrooms on both days. The Celebrity Baseball Tournament Tournament could be interesting, said Coffin. Coffin. The organizers are hoping "that since this is an election year that everyone thinking of running will turn out for this." She is also hoping the local media media teams will be involved. While some folks may be wondering wondering why the organizers are going forward to plan a two-day event, Coffin is confident they can pull it off. "We had so many new ideas and couldn't condense them into one day, so we decided to try a two-day event. Last year the carnival attracted about 7,000 people. And, as Coffin so eloquently put it, "Every year the attendance appears appears to be growing." Interested residents wanting to become involved in the carnival (which is raising money for the Courtice Community Complex) should call Coffin at 436-7706.
