Following the morning service, the congregation were all invited downstairs for a beautiful "Valentine luncheon". The hall and tables were all decorated with hearts, balloons and flowers and the Sunday school served to a large crowd. A special thank you to Noreen and her staff for all their kindness and hall work. A great time of fellowship was much enjoyed by all! By Edna Thlckson A very good crowd attended the church service on Sunday, although there were still several icy places to dodge. But, helpers were available to prevent any injuries. After the opening services, the first lesson was given by Rev. Sedgwick, from Mark, about Jesus healing many people. For expressions of worship, the children children were given cymbals and noise makers makers to play while the older ones sang. The congregation finished it up with singing from the green book. In the children's minute, Rev. Sedgwick Sedgwick asked them about the lesson he had read previously. He also named the fo- lowing new babies for 1994 who would be receiving flowers: Mr. and Mrs. Craig Brown, a son; Rick and Kathy Norman, a son; Ruddy and Sheila Jcss- wein, a son; Robin Ball and Sandra De- srochcrs, a girl; Eric and Loma Litz, a son; Brent and Suzanne Einsworth, a son. S. Davis and E. Robinson took up the offering. Coffee was served at the close. Several seniors who had not been at the first meeting were included in the 28 at this week's event and a number paid their dues, as well. On Wednesday, the V.O.N. of Canada Canada held a clinic at the Township building building for foot care, and will have another one in April. Sunday School at Elizabcthvile was held as usual, but not too many were there because most of the boys were playing hockey. There were three games at Bewdley where Justin Yarema played in the first game, James Burton in the second and Jonathan Burton in the third. Adam Yarema played at Uxbridge and his parents, John and Shirley, attended this game. Irene Beatty went to Uxbridge Uxbridge and Bewdley also. Jim Muldrcw spent the weekend with his mother, Mae Muldrcw. Jackson Peacock spent a couple of days with son Mark and family at New Nowell and while he was away, Irene Beatty stayed with Susan. Mrs. Wcsthcuscr is in the hospital in Bowmanville. Women's Institute The Women's Institute met on Tuesday Tuesday at Eileen and Jack Barkwcll's home. President Irene Beatty presided over 14 members and two visitors. After the opening, Irene took up the roll call which was name a way to reduce your local taxes. The Motto was: a penny saved is a penny earned. Secretary Lcta McAllister read the minutes of the last meeting and letters and data from the provincial W. I. were discussed. Treasurer's report by Bertha Trow was given. As our meeting was supposed to be on Citizenship and Legislation by Sybil Van de Wall, she had traded meetings with Eileen, so we had Local Interest by Eileen Barkwell. She had engaged our health nurse, Laura De Costa and she gave us a talk on illnesses, right to die and informaiton about exercising and proper eating. Later, Irene Beatty and Margarette Walker spoke about the meeting that had been held in Bethany of the East Durham District. Plans about the district annual on May 13 at Cavan were also discussed. Life members are to give a report on donations aand money made from fashion show and other money making events. A list of dues we are expected expected to send in to F.W.I.O., etc. Bettv Elliott also attended this meeting. On Sunday, Feb. 13th, Clayton Elliott celebrated his 80th birthday with his wife Betty, his son Robert and family from Port Hope; Sharon and family, Bowmanville; Mark and family, North Bay; Marcia and family, family, Garden Hill. Margaret gave reading on "Valentine's "Valentine's Day" and handed out little scripture readings to everyone and each read a scripture. Orono United Church Events PONTIAC SUNBIRD LE SPORT COUPE The beautiful baskets of fresh flowers and valentines decorated the church for Sunday's service. This was entitled "Bring a Friend, Sunday" Sunday" for the Sunday school. Noreen Nixon, Sunday School Superintendent Superintendent gave the Children's story, and the children handed out pretty valentines valentines to everyone in church and choir. Donald Staples gave scripture readings and Gordon Wcrry gave "Minute for Mission." Food Bank: "Please remember" our food bank. Donations may be left at the back of the church.
