Checkers scored first, halfway through the first period, on a goal by Kevin Stonehousc, assisted by Alan Robb and Ryan Wood. Mr. Sub tied it to give each team half a point in this period. Mr. Sub came out fast in the second, second, scoring two before Kevin Stonehouse got Checkers back in the game with an unassisted goal. The end of the second found Mr. Sub ahead 4-2. They added one more with seven seconds left in the third. This gave Checkers 1/2 point to take into their second game against Computer Learning, knowing they would need all five points from this game to be assured of advancement in the tournament. The first period ended with no score, which meant the best they could get was 4 1/2 points by winning winning the other two periods and the- game. Checkers rose to the challenge Sheridan College Volleyball Team Adds Clarke H.S. Grad to Roster Former Clarke High School student, student, and Ganaraska Wolf, Brent Piels, has joined the volleyball team of the defending college champion Sheridan Bruins. Brent is enrolled in Sheridan's Retail Management program. The Bruins are working towards their sixth consecutive OCAA Championship. The Ontario Championships Championships are . being hosted at Durham Durham College, February 25-26, and the Canadian championships are being being hosted by Mount Royal College, Calgary, March 9-12. Brent Piels Non-Contact Tournament Attracts On January 23, the Computer Learning Peewees were entered in a hockey tournament in Vaughan. This non-contact tournament allowed allowed the smaller Computer Learning Learning team to use their stills to a better better advantage. The first game saw Computer Learning come out flying as Andrew Andrew Wraith netted two first-period goals. But the Oro team fought back to take the lead. The second game was a puzzle as the Computer Learning team never got out of the starting blocks and were trounced by a score of 6-0 against Barrie. Player of the game medal went to Kevin Legge. The third game saw Computer Learning in the hunt for the 'D' championship against King City. Goals from Mark Fletcher and Richard Richard Adams saw regulation time end in. a 2-2 tie. After five minutes of overtime, the score was tied 2-2. So, with 20 minutes to spare, the players raced to the dressing room to prepare prepare to hit the ice against Grafton for the 'B' championship. Checkers fought hard, but couldn't overcome, losing 5-3. Kevin Kevin Stonehouse scored two goals, assisted both times by Jeff Collins and Geoffrey Neuman. Alan Robb added the third, assisted by Fraser McArthur. The team worked hard the whole tournament and never gave up, with everyone contributing to their accomplishment. accomplishment. The unsung heroes were Tommy Jennings and Scott Westlake on defence, defence, who may not have scored any of our goals, but certainly stopped the other teams from getting more. Then there was Mark Beitle on left wing, who helped make some plays happen, and of course, Brian Albert and Eric Arsenault in net who both made some great saves to help get us to the finals.
