I actually saw a few people wearing shorts! If I was you I wouldn't be packing away those winter winter woolies just yet. I seem to remember remember a major snow storm or two last March and I think this year it will' prove to be the same. Wcdnesdày's Euchre Card Party had some fine results. Sometimes two heads aré better than one. Betty Kuycr and Ruth Farrow proved this theory by sharing a card and took first place with a score of 81. In second second place was Doreen Ferguson with 79. In third place was Marie Brooks with 78. This was followed by Clarence Clarence Bray with 74 and Doreen Brock with 73. Leona Wright, had the Most Lone Hands of seven. The evening's Most Honest Player was Fred Watson. Watson. No one won the Special. The Draw winners were Doreen Brock, Ada Richards, Ruby Griffin and Agnes Schofield who won two draws. Five Hampton/Enniskillen Pathfinders Pathfinders enjoyed a trip to "Ski Jam" this past weekend. Amy Barr, Holly Broome, Ellen Pokorsti, Emily Resell, Resell, Lindsay Voiccy and leader Che ryl Waller made their way to Camp Borden in Barrie Friday night. This co-ed camp was held in an old Canadian Canadian Air Force Base allowing the campers to sleep in the barracks. Five hundred Pathfinders, Rangers, Scouts, and Ventures from all over Ontario attended, including a troop from Michigan. On Saturday the group held their own Olympics. All five Hampton/ Enniskillen Pathfinders placed in the ten overall. Ellen Pokorski won a Gold in the cross country 10 km for thirteen year olds. Congratulations Ellen. On Saturday evening a dance was enjoyed. On Sunday morning all campers dressed in full uniform for pictures and the receiving of medals. Leader Cheryl Waller said it was quite a sight to see. All arrived home safely on Sunday afternoon. On Monday, February 21st the Hampton United Church Women held their monthly meeting. Please note that the First Hampton Scouts will be hosting a Family Skate at the Enniskillen Conservation Area. Friday, February 25th skate is from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. On Saturday 26th, it will be from 2:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The proceeds from the sale of hot dogs and hot chocolate will go to the Scouts. A gate fee for the park will be in place. The Hampton Ladies Fitness Classes will begin another session soon. Monday's classes will run March 7th to April 18th. Wednesday's Wednesday's classes begin March 2nd and run until April 20th. The classes take place in the C.E. Wing of the Hampton Hampton United Church on Old Scugog Road from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A qualified qualified Y.W.C.A. instructor will work you out. Please arrive early for the first class so you can register or contact contact Marilyn Bums. Baseball registration is a sure sign that spring is just around the comer. Registration takes'place at the Hampton Hampton Community Center on Wednesday, Wednesday, March 9 th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A second registration will take place on Saturday, March 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A final reminder of Hampton Cushion Concert Scries. "Ronno and Friends" will be performing on Saturday, Saturday, March 5th at 11:00 a.m. This will take place in the gymnasium of the Hampton Junior Public School. Lois and Glen Lowery of Burketon were among about 70 people who gathered at jhe Tyrone Tyrone United Church for a special church service on Sunday, Feb. 20. OBITUARIES DonaldVinkle Donald Vinkle aged 82, died suddenly suddenly on Monday, January 17, 1994, in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. Bom in Olden Township, Frontenac, Frontenac, Kingston, and educated in Shar- bot Lake, he was the son of the late Hess and Johanna Vinkle. He moved to Newtonville where he lived for 51 years and in October, 1949, he married Mary Burley. Don was employed for many years on maintenance with the Canadian Canadian Pacific Railway until his retirement, retirement, 20 years ago. His special interests included gardening, gardening, fishing, hunting and carpentry. carpentry. Hé took great pride in his garden and always looked forward to the fall when he would join the fellows for the hunt. He was often seen quietly walking, walking, and loved to watch things grow whether it was his garden, a tree or a child. • - . . • ; Most will remember listening to him as a person with a quiet demeanour demeanour who was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbours. He is survived by his wife Mary, his aunt Maggie Vinkle (105 years), a niece, a nephew, and four great nephews nephews and nieces. Also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ronald and Marg Burley, Florence and Earle McEwen, Harold and Marion Marion Burley, Audrey and Clarence Gilmer, Keith and Jen Burley, 16 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Don was a member of Newtonville Newtonville United Church and a member of the Florence Nightingale Lodge No. 66, I.O.O.F., Bowmanville for 40 years. Pallbearers were Wallace Bough- cn, Dave Jury, Brian Caswell, Reid Wood, Tmeman Henderson and Harold Harold Best. Family and friends called at the Morris Funeral Chapel in Bowmanville Bowmanville on Wednesday and the funeral service was held from Newtonville United Church on Thursday. The Reverend David Black officiated and Mary Caswell was the organist. Spring interment Newtonville Lakcvicw Cemetery. Lavcrnc Stanford Souch 111 two months, Lavcrnc Stanford Souch, aged 86, died Monday, January January 10,1994, in Bowmanville. Bom in Starkvillc and educated in Peterborough, the son of Albert John and'Rcta Annie Laura Souch, was married December 5, 1936 to the late Iona Mildred Cassait. A laborcr/supcrvisor of Goodyear, Bowmanville, he retired in 1968. He was a member of Bowmanville Baptist Baptist Church and of the United Rubber Workers. He had resided in Bowmanville at 58 Duke Street for 48 years and previously previously on High Street. Surviving arc a son Philip Vowlcs, and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a step-son Allen Dumtnitt. Paster Roger Fellows officiated at the funeral services held on Thursday at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bow- manvillc. Pallbearers were Ronald Gorham, Floyd MacMtillcn, Jay and Jeff Moore, Peter Vogel and Kristine Vowlcs. A floral tribute was received from Goodyear in his memory.
