Good luck to all! MMIIHIIU SPRING TRAINING OPENS -- We read where Paul Quantrill, and his wife, Alyson, have left for Fort Meyers, the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox. Prior to his departure, a ceremony was held at the Jack Burger Sports Complex in Port Hope, where a photo of Paul in his Red Sox uniform was unveiled along the Wall of Fame. Rumors have continued to circulate through the off-season regarding Paul's future. Some of the trades had him coming to the Blue Jays, while another stated that the New York Yankees were interested. The latest one has the San Diego Padres inquiring about the young reliever, who would someday like to be a starting pitcher. Let's hope, for our own personal sake, that if Paul is traded, it will be to a team in the American League. That way, we can still visit SkyDome a couple times a year to publish stories on his progress. ■ IIIIIIIIIU JR. C UPDATE -- Not much is happening with the Bowmanville Eagles these days. Allaire added another on a three- on-two break with only 14 seconds left in the first period, and the rout was on. Three goals -- one of them short- handed -- in less than a three- minute span in the second period put the game out of reach. Trevor Rogers added to the onslaught onslaught in the third period, scoring three times, twice on the power play. ; "We had to get back to the style of game we were playing before," said coach Luxton. Unable to mount any type of of-, fensive attack in the previous three games, Bowmanville made up for their lapses on Sunday, building a 3- 0 lead after the first period, and stretching it to 7-0 after two. The line of Trevor and Jason Rogers, with Andrew Allaire, did most of the damage. They combined for seven goals and five assists. Trevor Rogers tallied three times -- all in the third period -- and added added one assist. Allaire had two goals and two assists, while Jason Rogers had a goal and two helpers. The trio made coach Bob Luxton look like a genius. He put the players on the same line, especially for Sunday's seventh game. "I was up all night thinking about what I was going to do to make a change," said Luxton. "I thought about moving Andrew (Allaire) (Allaire) up on that line, and he did a great job. Trevor (Rogers) and Jason (Rogers) both played great as well. "Everybody played great," opening faceoff. Barrie played the game under protest, claiming that Luxton was slapped with a two-game suspension following an ejection in game five of the series. The suspension was only for one game, which Luxton served Saturday Saturday in Barrie, making him eligible to be behind the bench for Sunday's seventh game. The lengthy stoppage of play that ensued to inform the referee of the protest served as a motivational factor factor for Bowmanville. "I told the boys they're trying to win it through the back door, so let's go out and kick their butts. They said they would and they did," said Luxton. Also scoring in the 10-0 victory were Matt Dykstra with two and Craig Forsey and Terry VanLondon with one each. Steve Oke, who registered the shutout, played splendidly in Bow- manville's net. The end came early in Sunday's game. Leading 1-0, Bowmanville VAN HEMMEH TIRES 317 Hopkins Street, Whitby Drive with Confidence!
