What a busy week this has been with all those "special" days. First - Valentines Day. Well that's a day for young lovers - so guess that lets us off the hook. Wouldn't want to shock our long standing mate by doing anything anything rash - like buying her flowers and sincechocolates are fattening we shall not tempt her to indulge. Next comes Shrove Tuesday better better known as Pancake day. Fresh syrup syrup doesn't really grab us gastronomi- cally speaking so we'll ignore that one. HEALTH CARE TIP % MEDICATION - FIVE RIGHTS Treat medications with the respect they deserve, with proper regard for safety and effectiveness. There are five rights to be observed: 1. Right medication 2. Right person 3. Right amounts Right time 5. Right method. 668-9006 St John Ambulante Then there is Ash Wednesday which if our memory serves us rightly rightly has some religious connotation something to do with 40 days before Easter. Nothing to do with trying to quit smoking for the nicotine addicts either. Likewise no association with being cremated cither. Next comes Thursday "One Moe Day" - you know as only one more day till the weekend. Sunday Baden-Powell's Birthday was observed almost World wide. Is it mere coincidence that "Thinking Day" coincides with the presentation of the Federal Budget??! Has Spring really spmng? Naw! That would be too good to be true. Our snowfence whose top was barely protruding through the snowbanks like eyelashes, now has emerged half way down. lire fields are bare and the only great masses of snow are to be found along the roadways, where the township snowploughs have piled it back higher and higher. Those cheery harbingers of spring, the Homed Lark can be seen along our rural roads and our first large flocks of Goldfinch have assembled around the base of the bird feeders still in their drab winter dress. Scarcely seems possible but already we have started raking up the accumulated dead branches under our Weeping Willow. A sure sign that Spring is just around the comer is the return of our Snowbirds from Florida and other southern climes. Among those returning are Hazel Gray and Ida Hurtig from 2 weeks in the Barbados; Eileen and Howard Malcolm and Candy are scheduled to return this week. Belated congratulations to Mary Morclli of neighbouring Lotus who observed her safe arrival at the half centuiy mark in a big way with the assistance of close friends and neighbours. neighbours. Party time included sleighrid- ers by horse and sleigh using the services services of Keith Goble and his tern from Janetville and indulged in the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McCabe at their residence for a social social hour (or 2, or 3 or more).
