Mr. Sub Peewees Continue to Work Towards Playoffs On Saturday, February 19, the Mr. Sub Peewee team faced off against Cutting Post in a BRHL league game. The Mr, Sub team went into this game with the idea of building for the playoffs. The Sub team lit up the score- board after only 30 seconds when James Beck got the puck back to Lucas Leskiw at the point Lucas let a slap shot go that beat the screened goalie. The Sub boys then notched their second when Brent Logan passed to James, who slipped the puck into the net. Cutting Post then scored when the Sub defence gave the puck up in their own end. The Sub boys scored their third when Brent again set James up for the goal. The fourth Sub goal was scored when Ted Eeuwes passed up to Niko Anastassakis, who split the defence, then deked the goalie and slid the puck into the net. The fifth Sub goal was scored when David Dustan intercepted a Cutting Post pass and one-timèd the puck into the net. The, sixth Sub goal was scored by Ted, with Niko assisting. The Subs' seventh goal was scored by Niko with James and Lucas assisting. The final Sub goal was scored from the faceoff. James fed back to Lucas, who let a blast go that was in the net before anyone could move. Cutting Post scored again late in the third period to make the final Mr. Sub 8, Computer Learning 2. On Saturday, February 27, at Darlington Arena, the Sub boys faced off against Checkers. The Sub boys lit up the score- board late in the first period as Brent scored on a goalmouth scramble with Chris getting the assist. Early in the second period, the Subs notched number two as David Dustan scored on a setup from James. The third Sub goal was scored on a passing play. Matt passed to Niko, to Chris, who registered registered the goal. Checkers then scored early in the third period, but Sub got this back as Niko scored. The fifth Sub goal was scored when Derek got the puck back to Lucas, who let a shot go that the goalie couldn't handle, allowing David to put the loose puck into the net. Checkers scored a goal late in the game to make the final Sub 5, Checkers 2. Later in the day, the Sub boys played an exhibition game against Whitby Toyota. The Sub team scored early when Luke Thompson scored, with Chris and Brent assisting. The Subs' second second goal was scored when Lucas took the puck, skated the length of thé ice, split the defence, and slid the puck under the goalie and into the net. The Subs' third goal was scored when Niko passed the puck out from behind the net to James, who one-timed the puck into the net. The last Sub goal again was scored when Lucas let a blast go that the goalie couldn't handle, allowing Brent to put the loose puck into the net. Whitby scored late in the third period to make the final Sub 4, Whitby 1. David McLinton played steady in the Sub net. Next weekend, the Sub boys will play in the Grafton tournament.
