It will be a six-week series commencing Monday, April 11, and concluding Monday, May 16. The sessions will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Community Care office, 98 King St. W., Bowmanville. BIG SISTERS NEED VOLUNTEERS -- Big Sisters of Newcastle, Oshawa and Whitby will hold their monthly volunteer orientation session on Wednesday, March 16. It takes place from 7-9 p:m. at their office on King St. E., Oshawa. Currently, there are 40 young people waiting for a Big Sister match. To find out how you can volunteer, call 436-0951. DURHAM SAVE-A-HEART -- A variety of CPR training courses are available during March and April of 1994. They include the 12-hour basic rescuer course, a six-hour refresher course for those who have taken the basic rescuer instruction and a six-hour course on infant and child CPR. There is also a four-hour heart-saver course. Locations include Oshawa, Whitby, Bowmanville and Ajax. It takes place Tuesday, March 22, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons. The program is offered free to Power Squadron members. MARCH BREAK EVENTS AT YWCA - You can have a blast this March Break through a variety of special half-day programs planned for children of all ages at the Bowmanville YWCA. The program runs from March 15 to March 17. The March 15th program is modelled along the lines of a day camp and is for ages six to 9. On March 16, there will be a pre-St. Patrick's Day festival described as a "Little Leprechaun Party." It is for kids aged three to five., Then, on March 17, there is a "YWCA at the Movies" program for ages six and up. To find out more or register, call the YWCA at 623-9922 or drop by the office. YWCA SEEKS COMMITTEE MEMBERS - The Çshawa YWCA is seeking members of the community to serve on committees dealing with recreation and housing services, marketing, strategic planning, finance and multi-cultural issues. Committee members should be willing to donate an average of six hours per month to the YWCA, which provides services for women, children and families in Durham Region.
