In a semi-final match against Oshawa St. Marks, intense back and forth action resulted in only one Oshawa goal in the first period. Hooper's took a 2-1 lead in the sec- , v pnd on an unassisted goal by. Andrew Laton, and a Brian Tamblyn goal assisted assisted by Jason Renie. Oshawa retaliated retaliated with a goal to tie the game. The sec-saw action continued when Laton regained the lead for Hoopers in the third. As each minute ticked down, a player was pulled from each team. As the skaters decreased in number, the excitement increased in intensity. With only one shooter and one goalie aside, it was do or die. The moment of truth saw Oshawa on a breakaway, full speed for Hooper's Hooper's goalie Michael Luxton. Oshawa's shooter fired a bullet which was artfully intercepted by Luxton and deflected onto the waiting waiting stick of Andrew Laton who broke away from the Oshawa skater and carried the puck to the Oshawa zone. With the players exhausted and the crowd on its feet, Laton made no mistake and coolly drove the puck home, advancing Hooper's to the finals. finals. The game was marked by aggressive aggressive offense, solid defense and exceptional exceptional goaltending by Dao and Luxton. Luxton. For an hour that evening, Grafton belonged to Bowmanville as two BRHL teams, Mr. Sub and Hooper's Trophies, met in the finals.
