The son of the late Sarah Jane and Jim Burley, he was bom in Clarke Township and educated in Ncwton- villc and Cowanvillc schools. In 1932 he married the late Olive Witty. A lifetime resident of the area he had farmed all his life, retiring 10 years ago. He was a member of Clarke Church. Surviving arc a sister Hazel Big- ott, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Morris Funeral Chapel, Chapel, Bowmanville, with the Reverend Black, Ncwtonville, officiating. Olive Laura Hills Co-owner of the Red and White Grocery Store Millbrook from 1959 - 1974, Olive Laura Hills, aged 95, died peacefully on January 28, 1994 at Strathavcn Life Care Centre, Bow- manvillc, where she had been a resident resident for two years. Daughter of the late Albert and Effic Bellman, she was bom and educated educated in Bowmanville and was married married November 25, 1922 to the late John H. Hills. A homemaker on a dairy farm from - 1922 - 1957, she retired at age 77. She had been a resident in Mill- brook for 33 years, and previously resided resided at R.R. 1 Enniskillen and Tyrone. Tyrone. She was a life long member of the United Church of Canada and a member of the U.C.W. and the Women's Women's Institute. She had a great love for' her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters Margaret Margaret Gray, Joyce Hills, Mildred Campbell, Gwen Achcson, Jacqueline Jacqueline Dawson, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister Greta Osborne, Osborne, Marion Bellman, and Bernice Clayton. She was predeceased by her husband, and daughter Dorothy, brother Cecil Bellman and sister Dorothy Dorothy Barrett. Lawrence Harold Farrow Employed by General Motors, Oshawa for 36 years and retiring six years ago, Lawrence Harold Farrow, aged 66, died Tuesday, March 8, 1994, in Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. . Suffering from diabetes for 27 years, he had been on dialysis for a year and a half. The son of Victor R. and Leona Mae (Moisc) Farrow, he was bom at R.R. 1 Orono, 5th Concession and educated at Starkvillc Public School. He was married July 27, 1957 to Martha Anne Lennox. He had resided resided at 5400 Regional Road 18 for 34 years. A member of Shiloh United Church, he was a member of the Newcastle Fiddle Club, the Durham East Liberal and the Durham Liberal Associations. He also served a term as a fence viewer. He was a great supporter of Minor Hockey in Orono and Newcastle. He loved fiddle music and loved to sing tenor. He was also a member of the Shiloh Church Choir. April interment Orono Cemetery. Mabel Maud Sturman In her 85th year, Mabel Maud Sturman, passed away in Port Perry Community Nursing Home, on Sunday, Sunday, January 16,1994. Daughter of the late Daniel and Ida Lee, she was bom on a farm at Washburn Island, and was educated- at Oakwood and Brown schools. She was married in 1932 to a "Bernardo Boy" Wilfred Sturman. The family moved to East Poplar, Saskatchewan, to homestead, with Mabel returning to Washburn Island with her very ill mother in 1917. When her mother passed away that year, Mabel, aged 8, was raised by her loving aunt Mariah. On graduating from school she began began work as a domestic and kept up correspondence with her brothers and other family members, and also to relatives in England, A dreadful fire destroyed the family family home in Whitby, and in 1946 they moved to Seagravc where they raised their children. She also looked after her animals and her lovely gardens. Around 1966 they took a dream trip to England when she was able to meet her in-laws for the Fust time. In April 1991 she spent a year in Port Perry Community Centre and two years at the Community Nursing Home. Left to mourn her passing are her family Ken and wife Eleanor, Sea- grave, Isabel and husband Allan Swectman, Bowmanville, Lee and wife Carol, Seagravc, Les, Seagravc, Reg and wife Carolyn, and Jean Cox, all from Bowmanville, 15 grandchildren grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and infant son William, brothers Albert, Les, and Howard Lee.
