Local Teacher Receives Scholarship The Independent, Canadian Statesman Weekender, Bowmanville, Saturday, March 26,1994 11 Gail MacKenzie (right) accepts her award from Pauline Bums, chair of the OSSTF Scholarship Committee, during a meeting in Toronto Toronto recently. MacKenzie, who is head of Co-Operative Education at Clarke High School, has received a $3,500 fellowship which will help her to pursue her studies in a Masters of Education degree. A Clarke High School teacher has received a fellowship for further studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. The fellowship was awarded at the annual meeting of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation Federation held in Toronto. Gail MacKenzie, Head of Cooperative Cooperative Education at Clarke High School, will receive the S. Hunter Henry Memorial Fellowship which assists members of the OSSTF with full-time studies at a university of their choice. The fellowship of $3,500 will assist assist Mrs. MacKenzie next year while she pursues a Masters of Education Education degree. As part of her program, program, she will be working on developing developing an Employability Skills Profile for student use. Keith Nicholas, Head of Music at Cobourg District Collegiate Institute East, was presented with the J.W. Ansley Memorial Award for Educational Educational Research. Mr. Nicholas' proposal, proposal, entitled "Music for Every Tom, Dick and Harriet," is a music appreciation package designed to provide teachers at all levels of mus- icality with user-friendly lesson plans and resource materials for developing developing music listening and creativity creativity stills in students. District 49 is very proud of this provincial recognition of the excellent educators we have in our schools."
