The Adopt-A-School program was instituted as part of the approach for the Durham Regional Police to become a more community-minded Police Service. Officers choose a school in the Durham Region in which they volunteer their time and services. The officers are expected to establish a rapport with, staff and stu dents at the school, and make themselves themselves available to meet the needs of the school as they relate to Police Services. Police Constables, Krish Gane- shan and Catherine Pettifer, have volunteered volunteered their services to the Oshawa campus of Durham College. They plan to get involved in confidential counselling to staff and students on police matters, as well as become a part of the college community whenever whenever possible.
