Harvest International Ministries was founded by Reverend David Youngren, who serves today as the organization's international president. Since its inception a few years ago, this ministry has grown rapidly and today has offices in both Russia and Sweden. Next, it will open an office in the United States. Evangelist Youngren is no stranger stranger to the area, since he lived here for a brief period in the early '80s. David returned to the area in 1991 to host the well-attended Alive '91 Canadian Carnp meetings under the Big Top by the Oshawa Centre. Many local evangelicals evangelicals considered the crusade the most positive event in the Durham region region in many years. Harvest is holding a major rally in Oshawa on Friday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Woodview Community Centre. David Youngren will be speaking, while Brent and Wendy Dalgleish will lead in lively worship. These "Word Explosions", as they are called, will, in the future, be held every second Friday, This summer, the ministry is also launching a School of Missions, and is expecting students to come from around Canada to be trained, and equipped for modem missions work. Much of the Harvest ministry is held by Youngren in Russia, where crowds of more than 10,000 attend a single service. Youngren states: "We are seeing an average of 90 percent of the multitudes make a commitment commitment to the Lord in stadiums, theatres and open fields in the former Soviet states." According to ministry records, thousands have also testified of supernatural supernatural healings for everything from cancer to blindness while attending attending David Youngren crusades in various parts of the world. Youngren also ministers on radio and television. His voice has been heard in some 50 countries over the airwaves. Since 1992, the ministry has sponsored its own telecast in Russia. David's unique presentation of the Gospel has also made him a guest on a variety of Christian and secular TV and radio programs in both Canada and the United States. David, with his wife, Kim, and two children, made their new home in Courtice.
