The first performance is Saturday, April 9, when the Voices Relyea will be the featured artists. This family of versatile singers and performers re-creates a nostalgic, amusing, yet serious concert set in a vintage Victorian parlour. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Future concerts will include Open Line, a trumpet and accordion duo on Sunday, April 24, and La Jeunesse, a Northumberland girls' choir, which will sing on Sunday, May 29. WOMEN'S SUPPORT GROUP -- Beginning April 11th, there will be meetings of a support group for women new to the Clarington area and having difficulty adjusting to the community. The eight-week group is being formed for women experiencing difficulty coping with day-to-day struggles, small children, life changes, financial difficulties, stress, caregiver burden and social isolation. PHILHARMONIC CHOIR PERFORMS APRIL 10 - The Durham Philharmonic Choir presents the second concert of its inaugural season on Sunday, April 10th, at eight p.m. The performance takes place at the Harmony United Church in Oshawa. The Durham Flute Quartet will be the special guest musicians. Under the direction of Robert Phillips, the choir consists of 45 mixed voices from the Durham Region. CRAFT SHOW SUNDAY ~ The annual Norrfolk Country Craft Show is taking place in Bowmanville this Sunday, April 10th. It is located at the Bowmanville Recreation Complex. HISTORICAL SOCIETY HOSTS "SHOW AND TELL" - Show and tell will be the focus of the Newcastle Historical Society General Meeting next week. Exhibit of Rental Art on Display at Visual Arts Centre To highlight the success of the Visual Arts Centre's Art Rental program program and stimulate further growth, the Visual Arts Centre is having an exhibition in the Mill Gallery featuring featuring significant works from artists whose works are available for rental through the centre. As in the past, new clients who begin a contract in April will receive a free month's rent. The centre's large collection of slides and artists' profiles offers clients clients variety and flexibility in their art rental choices. The program is an inexpensive inexpensive way to "try on" a piece of art, and a tax-deductible method of enhancing office business spaces.
