SUNDAY, APRIL 24TH, 1994 10:30 a.m. "The Quality of Christ: Courage" © In the early 1940's, and during the war years, the original Humbard Family Evangelistic Team, based in Dallas, Texas, crossed from one side of the United States and Canada to by Jacqueline Vaneyk Balloons and flowers decorated the Tyrone United church for the third of four services celebrating the 125th anniversary of the church building. The focus was on children -- present and past. The years were the fifties and sixties, and there were some interesting reminders, including including a 1958 Meteor automobile in perfect condition. There were also some flower children and some great bobby soxers, duster coats and polyester. Music played a large part in the service. Playing the piano for the prelude were Lisa Ferguson, Sarah Koene, Peter Vooys and Meredith Real. A trumpet solo during the offering offering was played by Sebastian Mur doch. As well, the juniors of the junior junior choir sang "0 Be Careful," and the older girls sang "Tomorrow." The entire junior choir closed the service with "Go Well and Safely." The senior choir anthem was a spiritual, spiritual, "Promised Land," by Natalie Sleeth. Michelle Hofman sang "One Tin Soldier," a lesson in song. Organist Organist and accompanist was Jacqueline Jacqueline Vaneyk. Guest speaker for the occasion was Wendell White, director of Camp Quin Mo Lac. Wendell is a warm, caring person and a very dynamic dynamic speaker. He brought and Indian Indian dreamcatcher to illustrate his point to thè children. Since those early days, Rev. Humbard went on to found The Cathedral Cathedral of Tomorrow in Akron, Ohio. It is one of America's most futuristic churches. In 1983, after many years of pastoring the Cathedra., Cathedra., Rex became Pastor Emeritus and is now dèvoting his full time and energy to ministering in person in crusade meetings, radio, television, television, public media and in every way he possibly can. Although Rex is now 70 years old, he has never travelled more, done more and been as actively involved involved in trying to proclaim the "Great Commission" of "Go ye into all the world and preach thé Gospel to every creature." In this past season alone, Rev. Humbard has conducted cmsade meetings throughout the United States, Canada, Japan and Brazil. In one 31-day period, it was his privilege privilege to travel more than 25 days and minister in 18 different- cities to thousands of people, just like he has done since he was a boy at the age of 13. Rev. Humbard is married to his wife of 46 years, Maude Aimee. he has four children who are actively involved in different facets of television television and ministry and there are six grandchildren. Each of them has worked with Rev. and Mrs. Humbard Humbard in the Ministry in the past years. Make your plans now to attend this banquet. Moderator Speaks Here on April 21 st The moderator of the United Church of Canada will visit Bowmanville Bowmanville this Thursday, April 21st. Rt. Rev. Stan McKay, will attend a dinner in Trinity United Church at 6 p.m. He will then speak at a worship worship service at 7:30 p.m. and also participate in a panel discussion at 9 p.m. The panel's topic will be issues concerning the life of the church and the future of the church, Reservations are required for the dinner, but the public is welcome to attend the worship service and panel discussion.
