Flag Raisings for Month of May May is Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the Municipality of Clarington. Promoting the month iare Alliance House representatives Francine Nicholas and Nancy McCabe. Later this month, on the afternoon of May 26 at the Port Darlington Marina, Alliance House in con-junction with the Ontario Women's Directorate, will be holding a public forum on Sexual Assault Assault and Sexual Assault Prevention. May is Red Shield Appeal Month in Claringtoa To celebrate the month and to bring awareness to area residents a flag was raised earlier earlier this month at the Clarington Municipal Administration Building. Lending a helping hand or two are Councillors John O'Toole, Ann Dreslinski, Mayor Diane Harare, and David Scott. They are joined by Bowmanville Salvation Army Captain Wilf Harbin and Glenn Dennis. Imagine two people people on a bike, riding up Simcoe Street, carrying a torch... The event will kick off at the Oshawa City Hall Courtyard. The riders will ride east on Athol Street to Simcoe, then North on Simcoe to the main entrance of Durham College. Doug Barlow of the Oshawa Cycling Cycling Club will be the front rider, going going the full distance, while the torch will be carried by various Corporate Challenge team captains. Not since the Calgary Olympic torch run has there been such a fun event!
