Pruett Wins Race at Mosport Setting a blistering pace, Scott Pruett from Crystal Bay, Nevada, driving a Chevrolet Camaro, won the Hy & Zcl's Trans-Am race at Mosport Park bn Sunday. Sunday. End of Season BBQ for Kool Enterprises Hockey Team The Kool Enterprises Bantams of the BRHL capped their season with a team barbecue last Sunday afternoon. afternoon. Perfect Weather Greets Players For Opener of Lawn Bowling What beautiful weather we had on Sunday, May 22, for the opening day of the Lawn Bowling season. Thirteen Thirteen players decked out in the traditional traditional white clothing enjoyed one long game as a start for this year. There were also a half-dozen non- participants on hand. Peewee Orioles & Drop First Game Of '94 Season to Port Hope Rival The first game of the Clarington Legion Branch 178 Major Peewee Orioles tournament on May 21 saw the Orioles go down to defeat at the hands of Port Hope by a score of 9- 5. The game was close until the third inning when Port Hope scored six runs. Pitching for the Orioles were Steve DeGraaf, Darren Kok, and George Scharrenweber. Unfortunately, fielding errors let Port Hope steal this win. Joe Campa led the attack with a double and a single, followed by Paul Schofield and Judd Woods each hitting a single. In the second game, the Orioles came out hustling and quickly took a 10-3 lead after three innings. Leading the way for Clarington was Darren Kok who went three-for- thrcc, Steve DeGraaf went two-for- four, Paul Schofield went three-for- four, Judd Woods went three-for- thrcc, and Russel Gaal bunted in two runs. This was definitely an offensive game for the Orioles. Jamie McCarthy, the relief pitcher, pitcher, only allowed two base mnners in the last three innings. The outfield was led by Peter DeVries, Jason McCullock, Greg Elliott and Steve Dao. The cleanup hitter, Aaron McSwain, was walked four times in both games. On Sunday, the Orioles faced Lcasidc. Aaron McSwain hit a triple and a single with Russell Gaal and Darren Kok each hitting a single. Despite good pitching efforts by Jamie McCarthy, Russell Gaal, and Aaron McSwain, Lcasidc took the win by a score of 5-3. The final games of the tournament tournament were between Agincourt and Ajax in the 'A' Division, and Peterborough Peterborough and Brampton in the 'B' Division.
