Local members watched a 10- minute video taken by a Michigan Ro- tarian who happened to be in India around the time of the disaster. Footage showed the temporary survivor survivor camps and the neighboring site where a demolished town will be rebuilt rebuilt with relief funds and renamed Rotary Nagar-Salegon. (Rotary Town- Salegon) Blueprints for the project include 400 homes, a hospital, clinic, schools, playground, and a hud water system. Box 93 Bowmanville, Ontario L1C3K8 Service Clubs Join Forces to Host Rodeo by Lorraine Manfiredo The Bowmanville Rotary Club and the Bowmanville Kinsmen are joining forces this year to bring the Ontario Rodeo Championships back to Clar- ington. Last year, the three-day event, sponsored by the Kinsmen was held in Courtice and attracted several thousand thousand spectators. Rotary's Special Events coordinator, coordinator, Paul Morris, announced last Thursday that negotiations to stage the 1994 rodeo competition in Orono were nearly wrapped up. "We're 98% sure it's going to be held at the Orono Fair Grounds," he told fellow Rotarians gathered at the Flying Dutchman. "And we're almost 90% sure we will have use of the arena arena for the Friday night dance." Whether or not the rodeo becomes an annual event at the Orono fairgrounds fairgrounds depends on its success this fall, Morris continued. "It could be the permanent location if we sign a five- year option to run the rodeo," he said. A site with permanent facilities will save volunteers time setting up and breaking down, Morris said. Members from both the Rotary and the Kinsmen clubs will share the job of organizing and running the rodeo. The Town of Clarington and die Durham Central Agricultural Society have agreed to supply steel corrugated culvert to remedy a soggy section of field where the horse ring will go. Portions of the grounds still need to be levelled and graded and will require the installation of lighting. The rodeo has been scheduled for September 23,24, and 25. Tickets will be sold in advance. As many as 1,200 people are expected expected to attend the opening dance on Friday, September 23. On Saturday, the 24th of September, thousands more will come out to see the province's province's best bronco busters put on two shows at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The final competitions get under way Sunday, Sunday, September 25 th. The Community Care Yard Sale and Bake Sale was in full swing last Saturday morning at Price's Maiket on Highway Two, at Lamb's Rd. Shown above are some of the volunteers at the bake table.
