We are putting the finishing touches on several several reports. The clean-up criteria subgroup will soon have its summary report completed for your review. It is a very interesting document, which is easy to read and gives you a clear picture what the clean-up group was all about. The Remedial Action group is working on a RAP 4 report which provides a good overview of the method of removing the low level radioactive radioactive wastes in the Port Granby site. A new task has been given to the Clarington Group recently. This task is to describe, study and report on the best options ' for transporting the wastes from the present site to its new location. This report and program program has just been given to the group, therefore your views and comments comments are extremely helpful. At this time we are planning to lift the low level radioactive waste into containers which can be sealed. These containers would' then be carried carried by light rail to .a new siding north of the site and when enough of these containers have been assembled into a train, they will be transported by rail to their final destination in Deep River. How do you do that in such a way that people will not be disturbed by noise or dust? . How will you dig it up so that you do not create a big mess either at the site or along the way? Now imagine that part of it is a sticky sludge! To add to the problem, the material material must be contàined so that none of the sludge can leak out, fall out or escape escape in any way. Oh, did I mention that there is a gas coming from the material which must be contained or measured so as not to affect people nearby? How would you dig up this material? material?
