Watch the drama unfold in the program A Soldier's Life For Me on Saturday, June 18, or Sunday, June 19. Don't forget to bring your camera! These soldiers are from New. York - 64th Regiment of Foot, British troops. They are re-creating a battle in the valley of Black Creek Pioneer Village. The American "rebels" and troops loyal to the Crown (including Red Coats such as these) are fighting for control of the area. Here the Red Coats are advancing in a battle drill. Eventually, the whole valley will be filled with a thick coat of "fog" (gunpowder). (gunpowder). Bring Dad to Black Creek Pioneer Village on Father's Day, Sunday June 19. Dads are admitted free on their special day. Black Creek Pioneer Village is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekends. The Village is located at Jane St. and Steeles Ave. in northwest northwest Toronto. Admission is adults $7.50, seniors and students (with valid valid I.D.) $5 and children $3.25. Children Children four or under, with family, are admitted free. * Blackstock Truck and Tractor Pull Roaring to Go July 8 & 9 A collection of watercolor paintings with a nostalgic, 1920's-era theme is on display in the Bowmanville Bowmanville Town Hall this month. Artist Tony Johnson is shown above with some of his work. Mainly self- taught, he has studied at the University of Windsor and with prominent Canadian artists. Tony currently lives in Oshawa where he has his studio. Tony works in watercolors and oils and is constantly taking these media into new directions. He is a member of the Oshawa Art Association, Visual Arts Centre, and Visual Arts Ontario. The paintings can be viewed at the Town Hall for the remainder of the month. The day will see displays displays and demonstrations relating to pioneer times, with entertainment, and strawberry tea. At Bowmanville museum, people can enjoy music, magic, hot dogs, and cake. A spectacular fireworks display will grace the skies over Port Perry as Canada Day is celebrated at Palmer Park. Oshawa's Lakeview Park will have a fun-filled day of activities and entertainment for all until dusk. While in Scugog for the Latcham Centre Barbecue, you can enjoy the start of the "Fields of Dreams" Slo- Pitch Tournament at various ball diamonds diamonds in the area. The Sunderland Fairgrounds in Brock will host a Strawberry Social and Pioneer Family Exhibits. And many will want to head to Uxbridge to take part in the celebrations of Elgin Elgin Park.
