It was truly a close shave for Ron Munro, who sold his beard to help the Ebenezer United Church raise money for its Project 150. Five men from the congregation grew extra facial hair in anticipation of the fund-raising project. On Sunday afternoon, the beards were placed on the auction block (and the chopping block), under the direction of auctioneer Charlie Reid. Isbel Static, of Scarborough, purchased the right to shave off Ron Munro's beard. She is Ron's mother-in law. She is pictured above as the shaving shaving begins. The project raised over $500 for the garden and walkway which have been built at the north side of Ebenezer Church to mark the 150th anniversary of the church's Sunday school.
