Lariviere won last year's race in a time of 41:21. This year, she shaved just over two minutes off of her time, stopping the clock at 39:05 and setting a personal best in the process. "I've been working on speed training lately, and I just started into a program," said Lariviere, who is conditioning herself to run a marathon marathon in November. Minutes before the start of the race, Lariviere almost had to withdraw withdraw due to a leg injury. "I was unsure if I was going to be able to run, but after I warmed up, it felt okay," she said. The overall champion was Simon Walker, of Bowmanville, who dominated dominated the field, finishing the 10km distance in a time of 32:40. Walker covered most of the course while maintaining a big lead over the rest of the field after breaking breaking away early in the race.
