Now four weeks into this regular routine, the drivers seemed to have worked out most of the early season gremlins and are concentrating on scoring points in the chase for the championship. Last weekend, we saw only three of the regular divisions compete, as the ACT Late Models went racing in Ottawa. Despite a small rain delay, the racing was dynamic, fun-filled and action-packed. In the Thundercar division, there were four different winners in the early evening heats. Jim Kelly of Richmond Hill started the charge by grabbing heat number one. Scott Douglas of Uxbridge, was fast and furious as he grabbed the second heat. Terry Thompsett of West Hill, was the third winner, while Doug Todgham of Oshawa, was winner number four. In the feature, 29 cars took the green flag in a race that saw lots of passes, spins, hard charges, and flat out moves. Duke Paul of Oshawa, and Andy Warbutton, also of Oshawa, captured the other two heats. In the feature there was lots of passing in a race that ran rather smoothly. There was the odd spin here and there, but otherwise, the fans were treated to a good race. Duke Paul won the event and held off the hard advances made by Mike Cross who grabbed second place. In third was Glen Pricker of Pickering. In late Model Sportsman Division, Division, Ken Paston of Caledon was the big winner in the heats. He captured two out of the four while Alex Hamilton, Hamilton, of Priceville, and Gary Mead, of Orillia, were victorious in the other other two. In the feature, the race was filled with lots of good fights throughout the field. There was plenty of good racing, but in the end, Gary Mead crossed the line in first place. He was followed by Alex Hamilton, and in third was Frank Baudo of Markham. ; ■■ ■.
